Volume 2 is where the series really picks up for me but i did enjoy these episodes too.

There are two outlaws with Little John and Roy that disappear after the second episode. Il never understand that and it does mess things up a bit for me. Overall it is a great modern attempt at the story and more accurate than the Kevin Costner movie.

Enjoyable

I have to say, when I first watched episode one i wasn't that impressed. There are a lot of flaws:

1. the costumes. only Marian changes clothes. They're unrealistic but bearable at the same time, so they're not the biggest flaw.

2. makeup on the actresses. the make up on the boys is good though (wounds i mean) but the actresses have too much on. you can see marian is pretty, she doesn't need so much makeup to make her pretty.

3. the script. episode one's wasn't very good. there's nothing wrong with the acting though.

I continued to watch this series and episode two was much better. actual fun and entertainment and it got better as the series went by. the best episodes in my opinion were 8,11,12 and 13. they were so good and thrilling you could easily ignore the flaws and enjoy it.

Hilarious!

I really loved this series, it's hilarious! The first five episodes which are on this disc are Will You Tolerate This? Sheriff Got Your Tongue. Who Shot The Sheriff? Parent Hood. Turk `Flu. All are action-packed and seriously entertaining. Yes ok there's a break from traditional Robin Hood, and yes a Black man as a Master of Arms is unlikely but I'd like to take this time to remind all that Morgan Freeman played the Moor, Azeem, Robin's companion in the Kevin Costner version so Robin spouting "leftist" ideology isn't necessarily a new take on the character. Robin seems to admire the other side in a way, that's not leftist ideology, anyone who knows their history in relation to the crusades would know Saladin was respected and that Richard I held Saladin in esteem and vice versa so it isn't too hard to believe that men from Richard's own guard would have that same respect for him.

Change isn't a bad thing at all. Marian is no longer Maid Marian and she isn't a typical wilting Medieval female, I like that. Its much easier to swallow, it's preferable to watch a woman who can look after herself as opposed to sighing endlessly whilst waiting for Robin to fix things. It really is supposed to cater to a contemporary audience and it does. Robin is very cheeky and it adds to the humour so perfectly blended. Whoever cast Keith Allen as the Sheriff deserves recognition, genius! What a sadistic yet charmingly witty character! And Richard Armitage as Sir Guy is perfect! He makes a wonderful villain and is such a talented actor!

In Turk Flu the Saracen Djaq is played by an Indian actress, it would have been better had they actually cast someone who looked the part because most Arabs don't look Indian and can actually speak the language. My friend was laughing so hard at her attempts to speak it. But I suppose if you don't speak Arabic that shouldn't really affect your viewing.

All in all, it's definitely worth watching. Perfect for a family evening.

Hilariously Bad

The one fun part of this series is the Sherrif. The other characters are modern-day sissies dressed up like 12-century characters. We see things like Marion doing Tai Chi, and Robin spouting leftist pacifist multiculturalist ideology. I was genuinely surprised when I saw scenes of people eating meat, since surely these characters would all be vegan.
