Best tv I have seen for a long time, sadly missed
Review date: 2008-10-01 Rating: 10 out of 10
Excellent, gripping.
Don't watch it if you are pregnant or considering having a baby!
However if you want to be convinced child birth is not as natural as it is made out, watch this!
Max - well what can I say, absolutely wonderful, so sexy

Very watchable TV even for a non-medical drama fanReview date: 2008-08-02 Rating: 10 out of 10I'm not a fan of medical dramas like Holby City / Casualty / House / ER but Bodies was truely brilliant. Some fine acting and some very realistic scenes and situations.
I watched the entire TV series and am throughly disappointed that it won't be returning to BBC. The finale was slightly odd (I won't spoil it) and maybe slightly unecessary. Bought the box set to relive it.
Incidentally I read the book before the TV programme and it's quite different - the novel isn't set in Obs and Gynae like the show, and the end is very different. I would recommend reading the book as well if you want a different flavour. (Have to say I didn't see Max Beesley as the charachter although I'm very glad they cast him!). Superb series. Roll on no; 3Review date: 2008-07-08 Rating: 10 out of 10What a fantastic series. Brilliant acting by all. It makes ER and Casualty look like child's play. This series goes behind the workings of a hospital and centres around the politics. (now i know why i have been waiting such a long time for my operation!) The patients are merely secondary to the story line, which is all about juggling figures and trying not to be responsible for anything. Apparently, after the first series was shown on the BBC the cast and writer Jed Mercurio received many comments from hospital staff to say they were spot on. It really is like that. I did hear that the BBC were working on a 3rd series. I wish they would hurry up as it might make up for all the other drivel that is currently being shown on TV. Well, worth watching.A brilliant expose of organisational politicsReview date: 2008-06-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Presumably the series was terminated because so many of the scenes would be unacceptably explicit on TV screens in several key markets, particularly America.
For me, the thrill of these series comes from the Macchiavellian storylines and the perpetual conflict between two hierarchies: hospital management and medical consultants. Every episode sees the abuse of power to cover up incompetence.
No-one, apart possibly from the nurse, Donna, behaves perfectly in this hospital -- certainly not the protagonist Rob, who is always torn between his own career, his sense of right and wrong, and his roving, woman-focussed eye.
The music is wonderful, although if you watch the episodes in close succession, it gets a tad repetitive. There are many thoughtful silences, however, and Rob is a man of few words -- it's left to the viewer to guess what he's thinking.
For me, the political storylines could have worked just as well in another profession. I am squeamish, so the only way for me to get through the gore is to become a little desensitised and detached from the plight of the many victims. Thankfully I have no plans to go back to any maternity ward myself, although of course my children may well do so. I'll probably conceal this boxed set from them!Superb!Review date: 2008-03-27 Rating: 10 out of 10What a brilliant series. Trust me to get hooked on a drama that doesn't exist anymore. I'd never even heard of it until I saw it by chance on Venezuelan TV last week! Makes Holby City look like Crossroads. Such a shame it only ran for two series. I'd recommend it to anyone.
