I'm not bovvered

Why isn't catchphrase comedy dead yet? It's simple comedy for simple people. Simple comedians who aren't creative enough to make an intelligent sitcom like Annually Retentive or Peep Show keep churning them out in the hope that one of them will become Little Britain. Don't buy this.

First of all i have got to say this is by far the most funniest, brilliant and top nosh british comedy tv programme i have ever seen. When i bought this dvd i was very suprised by the fact that this series is miles better than the first. They are still the remaining characters and new characters are also introduced.

Buy this dvd cos it is fab (also buy the Comic Relief Special because it is well funny)

CATHERINE TATE IS FUNNY AND SMART!!!
Review date: 2007-04-09 Rating: 10 out of 10

Catherine Tate's ascension to fame has been rapid but definitely well-deserved. Her sketch show features an eclectic collection of comedy creations; from Cockney Nan to the rather outspoken schoolgirl, Lauren, Tate's characters are all the more funny because they remind us of people in everyday life. The second series of THE CATHERINE TATE SHOW improves upon the foundations laid out in the first, proving why the comedienne ranks as one of the funniest people currently on television.

She has everything, from sex addicted nurse to face bovvered teenager!!!
I love the series of this and i have to say this is by far better than the amazing first series!!!

Funniest thing ever, much better than little britian!!!

Better than the first series
Review date: 2007-01-08 Rating: 8 out of 10

The second series of The Catherine Tate show is an definite improvement. Popular characters like teenager Lauren, romantic Elaine Figgis and foul-mouthed Nan are back, whilst there are several amusing newcomers.

The most notable is Derek Faye, with his catchphrase "How very dare you!" This is a man who appears gay, but is outraged when anyone suggests that he is. His lines are repetitive and he doesn't sound at all male, but I think that's why he's funny. Other worthwhile additions are hopeless dog trainer Moo Sheppard and partying waitress Amanda. It is good to have some characters that don't rely on catchphrases.

Not all of the new characters are good though. I did not laugh once at the elderly woman who breaks wind or celebrity-spotting burger seller Irene.

There are a couple of celebrity guests for the second series. Comedian Peter Kay plays a friend of Nan's and ex-Eastenders actress Jill Halfpenny turns up to babysit for the horrified rich family.

As well all the Series 2 episodes, there is the Christmas special. Amusing moments include Lauren auditioning for a pop contest and Nan meeting Charlotte Church.

This DVD doesn't have any of the usual extras like interviews or commentary. The only special feature is that you can watch all the scenes from a couple of the characters.

If you liked the first series, get this one too.

Top drawer British comedy at it's best!

The first series was fine but I feel Catherine Tate really developed her writing on this one and the excellent new characters went to show she was not just a one character wonder with Lauren the teenager. Nan, the "gay" bloke and the woman in the burger van - all add to the quality! Superb!
