Classic Drumming Amazing!

Apart from the great drumming and the brilliant band (Steve Marcus gives great sax), seeing all these highly rated drummers from different musical backgrounds attempting to cope with a big swing band is fascinating viewing. All the drummers are considered masters in their fields, but this sorts them out. Playing with a swing band requires so much more actual playing than just sitting there marking time. Some show themselves to be very adaptable and drive the band along brilliantly with considerable ease (Chambers) while others almost show themselves up (Peart). But please remember the standard here is incredibly high - through the roof! The sound and vision is great, with the exception of the Neil Peart segment where the drum mix is a bit too low. But that's nit-picking. Mixed in with the concert footage is some vintage Buddy Rich where the man shows what a master he was. Can't praise this enough, but it's really only for drummers and fans of Big Band Swing.
