Best film I've seen in ages...
Review date: 2008-09-03 Rating: 10 out of 10
If you want a funny, quirky and light-hearted movie that the whole family can enjoy, then look no further than Nacho Libre. I found everything to be brilliant about this film....the story (of an underdog friar in 70s Mexico with a strong desire to succeed in the "sinful" world of wrestling),the acting, the production design.... EVERYTHING! Jack Black is absolutley brilliant in this. This film is not for the cynically minded as it deals with things like hopes and dreams etc....so if you like funny yet warm success stories this is for you.

Either you love or hateReview date: 2008-03-28 Rating: 6 out of 10I think Nacho Libre is one of "either you love or hate" films.
I liked it but I know this film is not mass-appealing film, hence I rated 3 stars.
In this kind of slapstick comedy, timing is quite important (I'm talking about timing between lines or actions).
In this film, you will find it slightly different from other Hollywood -style slapstick. This is what I liked about the most.
The basic idea of Nacho Libre is similar to an old Japanese comic/TV cartoon called Tiger Mask (this one was not a comedy); a boy was raised in an orphanage and became a professional wrestler so that he could give back to the orphanage. I used to watch the TV programme in `70s when I was a child.
Yes, I admit that this "orphans help the orphanage" story might be elsewhere and nothing new (my favourite film, Blues Brothers is one of them).
Therefore it is quite important to have other elements to make the film attractive. If you can find them, you will probably like this film. crapo libreReview date: 2008-03-17 Rating: 4 out of 10gotta b one of the worst so called comedys i'v ever seen, only reason i watched it was bcoz jb was in it... plus my mate recomended it.
I struggled to laugh even once.. and even then it was a little blow through my nose type laugh....
i used to like wrestling so i thought i could relate to it.. but it was complete and utter nonsense... there was no real part in the film where he learns to wrestle but all of a sudden at the end he's a pro? come on now... and the ending was so predictable even michael fish(weather man 1986 hurricane blooper) could of got that one right. And when it did end... what the smeg was goin on here?? complete and utter nonsense... i cant understand y some people have gave this film a 4 or 5 star i nearly gave it a 1 star, the only reason y i didnt was bcoz.... well i dont kno really, maybe i should have done.
all i could keep sayin to myself durin the film was... wait untill i see my mate, im gona kill him for wasting 88 minutes of my life. avoid.. even if it is £2.98 Not Jacks best . Review date: 2008-03-11 Rating: 4 out of 10 This has to be Jack Blacks unfunniest film so far . My girlfriends 13 year old son thought that it was great , and maybe that is the audience that this film appeals to . I found it boring and a big disappointment , as I have enjoyed many of the films that Jack Black has made . Not a patch on School of Rock or Shallow Hal . Not bad...pass the dip!Review date: 2008-01-29 Rating: 8 out of 10I almost gave this a five, and to be honest, if I hadn't been knackered when watching it, I may well have done. It's very Napoleon Dynamite in style, but I couldn't 100% make my mind up about it, but as far as silly fun goes, it's excellent!
