The best British comedy since Fawlty Towers
Review date: 2008-11-16 Rating: 10 out of 10

The more I watch Phoenix nights the funnier it gets.
A rare work of genius witha fantstic ensemble cast of ourtrageous characters. Though often grotesque, it never stops being warm and affectionate.

If you've ever spent time in a Northern working mens club you'll realise just how close to life it actually is.

This series is Peter Kay at his best. The characters a great, very funny typical Northern humour, using great local actors. I didn't get to see much of it when it was on TV because of the shifts I was working, but since I got this it's hardly ever been out of the DVD player.

Unlike the BBC with Only Fools and Horses, Channel 4 has seen fit to treat one of it's best appropriately. There's plenty of out takes and deleted scenes as extras. It's all filmed near where I come from too, so it reminds me of home to boot. Well worth the money and a definite MUST HAVE for all Peter Kay fans.

Well, what can I say, this is easily the funniest programme I have ever seen.
God Bless Peter Kay.
I really cannot decide which is the funnier out of the two series, they are both excellent.
Everything about this show is hilarious from Brain Potter getting stuck on his "Stannah" stairlift to the Max and Paddy pretending to be hitmen, you just could not make it up but Kay has and managed to do it without it seeming far fetched.
A mention should also go to the supporting cast, charactors such as Big Kenny the liar and young kenny,Les Alanos and of course Holy Mary. The likes of these make the show for me but the best is Keith Lard the fire inspector who first appeared in 'That Peter Kay Thing' in the episode'Eyes Down' about the bingo hall.

Good cameo apperances from Roy Walker,Jim Bowan,Tim Healey & Kate Robbins[I laugh out loud to myself every time i think of Holy Mary behind the bar at the Ann Summers style party with her love balls-sweet jesus!!!].
The bonus CD of tunes is a good laugh as well,I play it in the car to annoy the kids.
All in all a great laugh and its true what another poster has said, once you start watching you can't stop.
BUY IT!!!
