A modern romantic Puccini

It is, as usual not PAL but Worldwide NTSC, and picture quality is only standard analoge TV, from 2002. It is not DTS, only stereo. But the singers wear microphones so the sound is very good. It is outdoor - in the rain! Most of all, it really rocks. I put in the DVD to check out the first minutes, but couldn't stop watching. A young Villazon is fantastic, and inspires the rest of the performers to give it all, even when the rain poors down. Alexia Voulgaridou and Elena de la Merced are good as Mimi and Musetta.

comme a Zurich ou Salzbourg, la mode actuelle est de faire moderne.aussi la mise en scéne devient n'importe quoi pour etre ~dans son temps ~.Cet opéra, par ailleurs trés bien chanté, ressemble plus a Starmania et autres comédies musicales alors qu'il s'agit d'un drame. le texte dit qu'une cheville est découverte alors que les femmes sont en minijupe, cela devient absurde et se trouve etre plus a joke qu'un opéra!
4 stars pour le chant. 2 stars pour la prise de son de mauvaise qualité avec seulement un DD 2.0. et 0 pour la mise en scène.

A quirky modern production in an unusual setting which won't be to everyone's taste, especially as the cast has to wear visible mikes. However the singing and acting are superb and everything Villazon touches turns to gold.
