Perfect for Pre-teen Girls
Review date: 2006-09-27 Rating: 8 out of 10
I read the reviews of "Just my Luck" and they weren't great, but still, I had an 11 year old aching to see it. Only, it was hardly shown. I persuaded the local cinema manager to put it on for us one saturday at 10.30am. I turned up with a party of pre-teen girls and noted a few others made the effort and got out of bed too. They lapped it up.
A little better focus from the writers, removing poop references (minor but icky) taking itself more seriously and packaging it for the right audience this would have been a real success. Truth is, Lindsay Lohan holds it all together, some scenes entirely alone, managing both comedy and pathos - does she ever put in a poor performance? I've yet to see one: I've become a fan through my daughter. This is great fun for those little girls "in between", not quite so little, but nowhere near grown up.
......Oh yes, there was the bonus of the Jo Boxers opening track "Just got Lucky" which is enough to put anyone in a good mood.
