Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a cracking film debut in Hercules In New York. Arnie plays Hercules, a Greek god who's half "mortal". After being stricken by a thunderbolt by his father Zeus, he takes a ship to New York City. There he meets Pretzie, a skinny man who sells pretzels near the ocean. After travelling with Pretzie into the heart of New York, he has a go at javelin throwng, discus throwing and long jumping, before getting himself a mortal girlfriend. He then becomes a professional wrestler before getting himself into a weight-lifting competition, which he loses because he lost his god-like strength due to Juno's, Zeus' wife, cunning plan. With a group of angry gangsters losing a bucket load of dosh because of a bet on Hercules to win, a big battle ensues with two gods from Mount Olympus coming down to help Hercules. After an emotional goodbye to Pretzie over a radio, Hercules returns to Mount Olympus where he unknowingly persuades Zeus to visit New York himself! A great adventure with good charm and humour. Onto the DVD itself, scene selections, a trailer explaining it was before his Conan and Terminator roles and that it's a thrilling adventure and... the film itself which could be classed as a special feature in it's own little way.
