Synopsis

Picking up where the first left off, the show's second season finds each character in a state of turmoil. Having lost her husband, Bree uses white wine as a tool for coping with her conniving son and psychopath suitor. Meanwhile Gabrielle ponders whether or not to have a baby, Lynette shakes up her marital dynamics by going back to work, and Susan attempts to move on from Mike. The season also adds several new characters to the mix, including new Wisteria Lane resident Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). And as everybody knows, new neighbours bring new mysteries. What, for example, are those strange sounds coming from Betty's basement?

Brilliant once again
Review date: 2008-06-21 Rating: 10 out of 10

Everyone tells of how season 2 fails to compare to season 1 and 3, and I have to agree it was not as good! So why do I still give it 5 stars then? Well..... seasons 1 & 3 were easily at least 7 stars!!
An extremely watchable show, and I may have to buy the boxsets again as my constant watching of the DVDs has made the box very sruffy and bent!

Desperate Housewives
Review date: 2008-06-04 Rating: 8 out of 10

I love the Desperate Housewives episodes. But the discs are not working as I thought they would be. It takes me half an hour to watch the programme I love, and i'm kind of disapointed.

Review
Review date: 2007-02-15 Rating: 10 out of 10

This series is well good. It is better than The First Series but i feel it isn't as good as the Third Series (Which Is Currrently Showing On TV). It is still a very very thrilling, exciting and funny series with over thousands and thousands of laughs, thrills and scares. Throughout the series is very intense and you are left dying to see the next episode. I also think the special features and extras are brilliant too. This DVD is a must-have.

What happened to the extras?
Review date: 2007-02-04 Rating: 10 out of 10

I have to agree with an earlier reviewer: if the stated extras are there, they're hidden! All the extras are on one disk (which I think is a good idea), but advertised and apparently absent are:

* Bloopers
* Desperate Husbands
* Poker Game

If you have this set and know where you can find these extras, please let me know!

That said, there are other features not mentioned, including:

* Mark & His Mom [US spelling]
* Mark's favourite scenes
* Fashion & Couture (basically, wardrobe)
* Juicy Bites (each actress's favourite scenes)

But returning to the show itself, just as good as always, better than a soap, funnier than a sitcom. A tad far-fetched in places, but then if you've ever been to America ..!

Not just for housewives
Review date: 2007-01-11 Rating: 8 out of 10

The first season of desperate housewives kept up a good pace as it introduced us to its collection of uptight, spoilt, flustered and funny characters.
From murder to infidelity and dishonesty as the series unfolded it drew you in.
So too with season 2 as it progresses you are drawn to wanting to know what happens next.
The beauty of the show is it's such a simple idea, a gang of middle class curtain twitchers are all friends and discuss what happens to them and their neighbours. Where the scriptwriters get it so right is in the consistantly unexpected storylines and witty observations.
This programme never stales or feels lost for a plot, something interesting is always happening and the main characters, though flawed, are all likeable. It also makes a nice change to have the women as the centre of attention and not being portrayed as idiots. The actors all give good value for money and even during the daftest plots they still manage to convince.
Things dont let up in season 2 and as before the pace quickens towards the end leaving you wanting to see series 3.
Programmes as easily entertaining and amiable as this are rare.
The box set is well presented and disc 7 has a raft of extras.
The picture quality is good, especially for a T.V show and it's nice to see 5.1 surround offered and even though your surround set-up is unlikely to be tested by this it is clear and conversation is distinct from ambient noise.
All in all this is a good show well served by this box set.
If you haven't seen it before then you really should watch season 1 1st as you may get confused. If you have seen the 1st series and enjoyed it then this is not going to disappoint. Buy it and enjoy the further mishaps of the residents of wisteria lane.
