Synopsis
With its debut in 2003, THE O.C. quickly became the most popular night-time soap since BEVERLY HILLS, 90210. Captivating audiences with its fresh dialogue, clever wit, steamy storylines, and the mesmerizing power of Peter Gallagher's eyebrows, the series became a trendsetting force in terms of popular fashion and music tastes among young viewers. When the third season begins, characters are left to deal with the aftermath of the previous year's events. While Kirsten makes friends in rehab and thinks over when she'll be ready to return home, Sandy shields her from all the drama going on back in the O.C. Still having to explain her role in Trey's shooting, Marissa finds herself in the middle of police accusations and harsh judgment from the Harbor High parent council. Meanwhile, Ryan is encountering the same treatment. As Seth, Summer, and Sandy try to get Ryan and Marissa back into Harbor, several things get in the way, and it looks like Marissa may be leaving her Chanel purses behind for the tough world of public school. In this season, each character must carry his or her fair share of baggage, including formerly saint-like Sandy, who while negotiating some sticky business deals, gets in over his head, and risks what he thought was a rock-solid marriage. As the season progresses, there are college decisions to make, with the gang having to decide whether to stick together or split up. Loyalties are tested, bonds broken, new connections made, and in the final episode of the season, a central character's life is lost.

its senior year for the gang and there are lots of decisions to make. things are beginning to go back to what is normal for newport after the shooting at the end of season 2. but its newport beach so it aint gonna say that way for long. in between maing decisions on where to go to college the ryan/marissa rollercoaster starts back up with the usual drama but by the end of the season it comes to it resulotion. some old faces come back to stir up trouble and new ones arrive in newport to do the same. and to top off the season there is a shocking twist that leaves a mark on newport beach forever!!!

What happened?Review date: 2008-07-21 Rating: 2 out of 10I have been a huge fan of The O.C since it started, and enjoyed every minute of the show...apart from these episodes. The characters didn't seem to develop much, the storylines were slow and boring...I'd even go as far as to say that Marissa's death was probably the only good thing about this season- it got rid of a character that was, in my eyes, stale and had no further potential, and it paved the way for better storylines in season 4. The later episodes (where the gang graduate, prom etc) are slightly better than the early ones, but still nowhere near as good as seasons 1,2 and 4. I've heard that with this series the producers were trying to make the show darker, with the result, it dragged.
Get it if you want the entire collection, or if you want to understand the changes that occur in some of the characters (i.e Summer and Ryan) in season 4. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. If you bothered with season 2, this is no let downReview date: 2008-04-24 Rating: 8 out of 10Hi all
OK, so now I've watched the entire of season 3 my feelings are a little mixed. If I could change my rating rom 4 stars to 3, i would! The series, in my opinion, actually gets worse the fruther along it goes, after such a promising start as well. The last episode was always going to be emotional, but its weird - i imagined Ryan and Marissa having a run of a few happy 'lovey' episodes and then being cruely parted - but no, their relationship had ended a good while before so it left me with mixed feelings.
You never really get Volcheks feelings about Marissa - certainly not from his acting anyway - only because someone mentions it. Seth turns into an abject liar and it just leaves you thinking 'again? why?' Ryan should be suicidal the number of people who've upped and left him. A lot of people's fascination with season 1 was: the actors were perfectly cast and perfectly scripted and it gave you a very 'real' feeling of who htye were and what they were experiencing - you really cared about them. Seasons 2 and 3 have very much ruined that, unfortuantely turning the programme into an every day unbelievable soap.
I've got this far, so i will no doubt watch season 4 as well but again this season just doesnt have the kick of season 1 but i suppose no let down from season 2 - not that that's much praise.Loses a star for the stumbling of credibility but overall, this season remains quite strongReview date: 2008-01-08 Rating: 8 out of 10Ok, so this is my third review here on amazon,I'm going to presume if you are interested in this item, you have bought the first two, if you haven't, then I'd strongly reccomend it, otherwise you would be lost..this season got a lot of bashing, be it from professional tv critics or merely on the fan forums,I guess that some people take their advice and avoid buying this particular season of an overly amazing show. Yes, I will admit, this season has its stumbling regarding storylines, there is less obvious humour, if it is present, then it is dark satiracal humour, but then again, sarcasm has always been a friend of this show, and many, like myself, think that is a factor which makes this show the sensation that it is. This season is about the graduation year for the fab four and obviously things never run too smoothly in the OC, how could they after what happened in season 2's finale?Basically the first few eps explore the reprocussions of that. Also Julie has a pretty difficult season, since what happened to her marriage last season, and she has basically lost all her stepping stones and is floundering in a sea of debt and a life buoy comes in the form of a person possibly even more devious than the famous Julie Cooper. If you thought Caitlin Cooper was gone forever? Think again, as the writers decide to write back in a very neglected character, but there are some slight changes made to her character so that she can be better incorporated with the storylines that revolve around the fab four. Going to college, and that whole aspect, play a huge part in season 3. Obviously, the kids graduating from Harbor is going to re-shape the show entirely for next season, but you will have no idea to what extent until you watch this shocking season finale...I know I am always going on about shocking season finales in the OC, but this one...well if it hadn't been blabbed all over the media days before airing, I might have gotten the biggest shock of my life...
Sandy and Kirsten, well obviously, since last finale, it can be presumed that their relationship is somewhat on the mend, and I would think that they return to season 1 style as a couple. Seth and Summer have some very sad moments this season. This one factor, shows how dark this season really is, although aside from the major character mistake of Johnny and all to which he entails, I think that this season is strong. It is worth getting, and only has about 2 dodgy episodes realistically in total. Buy this, especially if you are intent on making a collection. Hmmm, maybe this was a mistake.Review date: 2007-04-25 Rating: 8 out of 10When I bought this I was very excited about continuing where season 2 left off. From the start I could tell this season wasnt going to live up to the standards of the first 2 seasons. Althought the plot can go quite slowly at times, found myself starting to enjoy storyline it had to offer. I will agree that Marissa's death wasnt exactly all that heart wrenching and her exit didnt bring tears to my eye's. But on the whole, I would recomend to either look to buy this season as cheaply as possible or borrow it off someone as its not worth spending full cash if you may not enjoy it. I found it enjoyable, but as ou can see from the other reviews, it let them down.
