Enjoyable anthology film
Review date: 2008-12-04 Rating: 8 out of 10

A horror director Peter Brown(Harve Presnell) and his cast sit down for a meal after a shoot. Brown tells his friends that its all an act and that he doesn't believe in the supernatural, so his friends proceed to tell spooky tales to prove him otherwise.
In the first story a merciless contract killer has trouble with an unexploded bomb that keeps turning up where he doesn't want it
The second concerns a henpecked husband who purchases a magic talisman that he hopes will rid him of his wife. The talisman grants the owner unlimited wishes. Sick of being nagged he wishes himself back to Napoleonic times to be on Napoleon's front line. However, things don't go quite to plan, especially when his talisman is stolen
In the third story an unscrupulous loan shark is trapped in his own safe with the ghost of one of his victims, who threatens to haunt him for the rest of his life
The fourth story concerns a martial arts teacher who has lied his way to the top. A true grandmaster is determined to get vengeance on him
The framing story ties things up, as the sins of the father comes back to haunt Brown
This a very enjoyable low budget anthology, more in keeping with the Creepshow series than the Amicus efforts. The second and third story are played for laughs for the most part, although both have agreeably twisted denouements. Its hard to believe that the director of this film was also responsible for 'Bloodsucking Freaks' as this is quite a restrained effort.
This is a very worthy addition to the Anthology horror genre, and theres plenty of gore and laughs to be had. I enjoyed it a lot, hopefully you will too. 4 out of 5
