Amazon.co.uk Review
The second series of the new Doctor Who disappears with a bang, thanks to an excellent two-parter that throws in the Doctors' old foes with the departure of companion Rose Tyler. Yet this final disc of the series two collection actually kicks off with "Fear Her", a decent enough way to spend three quarters of an hour, but far from the series highlight, and not the reason most people will buy this disc. It's a breezy tale of a little girl whose disturbing drawings come to life, a premise admittedly with some promise. The execution though is fairly middle of the road, and save for some fun moments along the way, it's fairly forgettable, if entertaining, stuff.
The closing two parter though is terrific. It kicks of with "Army Of Ghosts", which finds the residents of Earth being visited by strange ghostly shapes, believed to be assorted relatives who have long since died. Predictably, that's not the case, and much to the shock of Torchwood, an Earth-based organisation investigating alien technology, the world promptly finds itself pretty much invaded. And there's still room for things to get worse in "Doomsday", with more than one major villain from the Doctor's past arriving on Earth, prompting a major battle, the return of faces from earlier in the series and a farewell to Rose Tyler.
It all wraps up another hugely successful series of Doctor Who, and once again does it with a considerably strong pair of final episodes. We've said it before and we'll say it again--we can't wait to see how they'll top it next time around… --Simon Brew
Doctor Who And The Cybermen Of The Daleks
Review date: 2008-07-29 Rating: 2 out of 10
This is dire.
Fear Her is forgettable and syrupy (and from the creator of Life on Mars too!) with a truly hideous cameo from BBC newsreader Huw Edwards, some guff about Love and the Doctor's cringeworthy lighting the Olympic Flame.
Doctor Who And The Cybermen Of The Daleks comprises two episodes: Army of Goats (sorry, Ghosts) and Doomsday. It's an abysmally childish concept - the story with the Daleks and the Cybermen in it. And it consists of lots of electronic voices repeating the sacred mantra "Exterminate/Delete/Exterminate/Delete", etc, ad nauseum. Tennant and Piper are excruciatingly annoying and I'm sad to say I was actually disappointed that Rose didn't die at the end. The sheer level of noise throughout these episodes makes them very difficult to watch without getting a headache.
This is not the revived series's lowest point - that was Love & Monsters, an episode so bad that the title alone makes me feel ill - but the apple has fallen far from the tree since Christopher Eccleston left the show. It's not that I don't like David Tennant. He's got so much to offer, but the characterisation of the Tenth Doctor as a cocky Essex boy with a dodgy accent isn't particularly likeable. I came away from this whole season feeling decidedly cheated.

Brilliant Finale to a Brilliant Series!!Review date: 2007-08-14 Rating: 10 out of 10These are great episodes to end the series.
The First one "Fear Her" is okay but not as good as the others. It is about a girl who gets posessed by a creature called the "Isolus". Whenever she draws something it disappears from reality and ends up in the drawing. It is a decent enough story but a very weak plot.(7/10)
The "Army of Ghosts" is a great episode. When the Doctor and Rose take a visit back to London they find out that at times in the day, there is a ghost shift when all these ghosts appear. It ends up that the ghosts are Cybermen and the Daleks are there aswell. Great episode!(10/10)
"Doomsday" is the best out of all of them by far. The Cybermen have taken control by upgrading everyone, while the Daleks are trying to open "The Genesis Ark", which in the end; we find out that it is a prison ship from the timelords, made to put Daleks in, then they take over. Then finally there is the great finale of the Doctor losing Rose! A very dramatic ending.(10/10)
I strongly recommend that you buy this. (Overall 10/10)!!!The new seasonReview date: 2007-08-11 Rating: 6 out of 10The transition from Eccleston to Tennant was very clever. The committment and affection between the Doctor and Rose added a very touching element to the series. I do not see that bonding between Tennant and his new companion.
The new season is entertaining but is lacking in chemistry. You have got to own this DVD!Review date: 2007-08-07 Rating: 10 out of 10First on this disc, the not-so-good "Fear Her", with quite a boring storyline and a cheap monster, a drawing on the wall. But as for the series finale "Army Of Ghosts"+"Doomsday" they are FANTASTIC! The Cybermen AND the Daleks in one episode, FIGHTING EACH OTHER! WOW! And Rose and the Doctor get seperated, sad, bless, boo-hoo! A brilliant selection of episodes!A brilliant end to a brilliant series.Review date: 2007-08-03 Rating: 10 out of 10This dvd was a brilliant end to a brilliant series, it was exciting and emotional and I really enjoyed it. This is what I thought of each episode.
Fear Her= This episode isn't great, it has the potential to be exciting and brilliant but it just wasn't and I didn't really enjoy it much. It is about a creature who draws things and then they get taken into the pictures. This episode is amateur ( 6/10 ).
Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday= This is a brilliant two part episode and it is exciting and intriguing all the way through, it is emotional because this is the episode where Rose leaves the show. This double episode is about ghosts that are actually cybermen and they have a war with the Daleks ( 10/10 ).
I highly reccomend this dvd for the last two episodes alone but Fear Her is still worth watching.
