Amazon.co.uk Review
A year has passed since 4400 abductees were returned to Earth (and six months since the original series ended). Richard (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali), Lily (Laura Allen), and Isabelle are on the run from Jordan Collier (Billy Campbell) and others who would attempt to harm their child. Shawn (Patrick Flueger) has moved into Collier's cult-like 4400 Center. Then there are NTAC (National Threat Assessment Command) agents Diana (Jacqueline McKenzie) and Tom (Joel Gretsch). The former has officially adopted Maia (Conchita Campbell), while the latter is reunited with formerly comatose son Kyle (Chad Faust), Shawn's best friend. Almost everyone, returnees and otherwise, is changing. Jordan, for instance, is having more seizures (as a result of his first encounter with the eerie Isabelle), while Kyle is having blackouts. Along the way, new characters are introduced, like mute mental patient Kevin (Jeffrey Combs), who regains the ability to talk, thanks to Tess (Summer Glau, Serenity), the only returnee who can recall what happened to her. Others include Diana's sister April (Natasha Gregson Wagner), Jordan's pal Matthew (Garret Dillahunt, Deadwood), and former NTAC supervisor Dennis Ryland (Peter Coyote), who returns to the fold. Guest stars include E.R. 's Sharif Atkins ("Voices Carry"), Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Picardo ("Weight of the World"), and Twin Peaks' Sherilyn Fenn ("Carrier"). The season will end much as the miniseries began, with the 4400 being released from another quarantine, setting the scene for the next year. Although the first set was a barebones release, the second features commentary from McKenzie, Gretsch, writer Craig Sweeny, and writer/producer Ira Steven Behr. --Kathleen C Fennessy
Very cool...

One of my favourite Sci-Fi shows - but, ignore what it says on the CD cases about commentary on some of the episodes, they aren't there for some reason... May be that they are only available on Region 1 or something, but it's kind of misleading to say they're on the Region 2 DVDs when they're not.

Wonderful showReview date: 2008-02-28 Rating: 10 out of 10The 4400 is my absolute favourite show and has on many occasions made me laugh and cry in the same episode. The compelling storylines make you want to watch the next one straight after to find out what happened next.
I can even over look the whole no extras thing. A solid 3-star seasonReview date: 2007-11-18 Rating: 6 out of 10I thought the first season of `The 4400' was really entertaining television and very promising, with enough suspense and drama to equal Steven Spielberg's `Taken'. But then it went on to carve out it's own sci-fi persona with the surprise revelation in the final episode and I was very interested to begin the second season, especially with the glowing reviews on Amazon. But to my disappointment largely this season fails to deliver anywhere near as well as the previous one.
The problem for me was that often I just couldn't believe in the choices the characters made. Richard and Lilly escape from Jordan Collier at the end of season two, but that threat was never going to be sufficient, because Collier is a character whose motives remain grey in the early episodes of this season and so the writers introduce a very weak story device to increase the couple's anxiety and fears of settling down, spurring them to go on the run once more until (rather anti-climactically) in episode 4- `Suffer the Children' (6/10) they're brought back into the 4400 fold. It was also a mystery to me why Shawn stayed at Collier's side in those first handful of episodes when so often he demonstrated his arrogance, self-interest and abused his powers so readily.
Then episode 6- `Life Interrupted' (8/10) comes along and things start to improve. It begins quite predictably with Tom transported to an alternate reality where the 4400 never existed. But by the end, and with the introduction of new 4400 and love-interest Alana the scope for this series once again broadens. Unfortunately the following episodes don't really follow that trend by exploring the motives of those who created the 4400, but at least the final episode `Mommy's Bosses' (7/10) ties up the few loose ends and hints at some interesting themes in season three.
The scope felt so huge in the beginning, limitless even for the potential of stories for this show and I enjoyed some of the ideas in season two, but the story-arc spread across the season doesn't really grab the viewer and too often it feels as if the main protagonists behave totally out of character only so the season's story-arc can be allowed to develop. Still enjoyable stuff and I'll be tuning into season three to find out all that happens next...See for yourself how good this program is!Review date: 2006-11-20 Rating: 10 out of 10After watching season 1, I was looking forward to the second season, at first I thought it was a little expensive to say there is only 12 episodes but decide to buy it anyway. Now I just think it was a close toss up between DS9, Lost season 1, Battlestar Galactica Season 2 and 4400 season 2, but yes 4400 season 2 just edged it for me, now this is officially the best TV series or television viewing in general including all film, that I have ever seen.
For those of you who have seen season 1 and thought it was ok, you have to by season 2 you wont be disappointed, the story I feel thickens from season one, the characters evolve more, and the series gabs our hole attention from start to finish, and for me just left me counting down the days till I can watch the next season.
There are so many good points to this series that you don't know what to list, the best thing for me is the characters, everyone plays there part extremely well in this series, there is no exception all the characters are good and all the actors bring there character to life.
To really grab the full enjoyment of the show, you will have to watch season 1 first and not miss a single episode which is easy because there are not many, and even once you have watched it there are some episodes that are so good you can watch them again and again.
I sure that this program will continue to grow and grow and cant wait till I have all the box sets once the program is finished, and I shore this is one that I will watch again and again in years to come.
great stuff!Review date: 2006-10-09 Rating: 10 out of 10once this series switches from the episodic storyline to an arcing storyline flowing thru each episode the thing just really starts to get under your skin...can't wait for further seasons (if there are any?)
the possibilities in the storyline are endless!
