Loved it..Review date: 2008-06-05 Rating: 8 out of 10I watched series two last year and whilst I appreciated the fine acting I found it very depressing, especially the last one about the boy killing the baby[was pregnant at the time so possibly it affected me more].
I had never seen Series one but thought I would give it a go,again, being the bargain hunter that I am,for under seven quid it was indeed that,a bargain.
I can honestly say I enjoyed series one much more than series 2.
Whilst its still,at heart,a grimy northern kitchen sink drama,I still thought the stories were more light-hearted,apart from the last episode about domestic violence.
I love Timothy Spall in anything and he pops up in both series but the episode with him and the asylum seeker tickled the life out of me.
Lots of famous faces in this series such as the great Sue Johnson,Jim Broadbent & Jane Horrocks.
I enjoyed this series very much and I think in the coming years it will be looked back on as a fantastic example of how great british made telly can be.
THE STREET 1 AND 2 ARE EXACTLY THE SAMEReview date: 2008-05-25 Rating: 10 out of 10I BROUGHT SERIES TWO AFTER WATCHING SERIES ONE, AND FOUND THAT THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME STORIES,TWO DVDS SERIES 1&2 ARE THE SAME,NO DIFFERENCE,British TV does not get any better than this!Review date: 2008-05-25 Rating: 10 out of 10This is easily the finest series from the UK for a VERY long time! With a combination of a brilliant writer and a cast that does justice to his scripts it does not fail. The actors are world class and I was absolutely gob-smacked with the pure quality oozing from the show. The series is totally gripping. All episodes has a star turn but I was especially impressed with Neil Dudgeon with his performance as a teacher who has been falesly accused which was emotionally very draining. This series cannot be bettered for the range in content, topical issues and acting- what a true joy it was to be able to see this show. If you are reading this do not hestiate to buy it and make sure you pick up series two at the same time! You will not regret it!The Best Series Review date: 2008-05-21 Rating: 10 out of 10This is one of the best series I have seen, I live in Australia and we have not had this series broadcast here at all, I just bought the dvds from the description of the series and I am so glad I did. The acting is brilliant and the story lines, well what can I say, very touching!! I wish there was a series 3!!
