The score for V For Vendetta closely mirrors the style of the film. Although occasionally slipping to cliche action style music - whispering themes followed by sudden loud clashes - this is for the majority an accomplished score, with a few songs thrown into the mix. While perhaps better with the lighter themes, like Valerie, or The Dominoes, where Maranelli creates a gentle theme that gives a rare respite from the film's more darker, desperate tones. But it is the action scenes score which Maranelli relishes, and really makes them memorable. Drums are used to excellent effect in Remember, Remember, and the buildup of tension to track 3 (the name escapes me) is almost unbearable. The few songs thrown into the mix also fit in well. Cry Me A River has never been more fitting. The three songs used in the final score are all memorable from the film, and I felt suit the mood perfectly, and it was nice to get some lovely vocals in there too. On the whole, this was an excellent accompaniment to the film, which brings the V For Vendetta experience into your CD player.

After the piano tinkling plinkety plonkety score for Pride And Prejudice, Dario Maranelli decides to go for something slightly more ominous, darker and threatening.
