Forgotten but excellent western

The story..A naive 16 year old with dreams of becoming a cowboy persuades a trail boss to take him along on a cattle drive.However, the rigors and realities of the dusty trail life are not as glamourous as he had imagined.
Now regarded more of a cult film but "Culppeper cattle co" is a brilliant western with outstanding photography, great action and cast. Yes there's an impressive cast of character actors filled with familiar faces from Clint Eastwood and Sam Peckinpah westerns including Bo Hopkins and Geoffrey Lewis.Dick Richards's direction is just fine and the attention to detail is great as we see the epic cattle drive and all the brutal realities of the life like drunkenness,cattle rustles,violence etc. The high quality action scenes themselves are gritty and violent with much blood (think Peckinpah) particularly the final shootout which is quite simply spectacular.
A really great western that needs to be seen by all fans and a great price too.
