Korean masterpiece
Review date: 2008-08-17 Rating: 10 out of 10
I was amazed by this film, although I agree with some comments that the translation may have roughed up the finer points of the plot. Its the overall quality that makes this a great movie, suberb directing, great unknown actors (to the uk), and a classic gangster tale. Don't be put off by subtitles as the script is very concise, there doesn't seem to be room for bullsh#t in korea. The same Director also has another film out in English call 'a tale of two sisters'. Highly recomended

Enjoyable but not sufficiently original to stand outReview date: 2008-05-20 Rating: 6 out of 10"A Bittersweet Life" is very stylish and feels like a well-crafted gangster movie but it doesn't quite stand out on any front: the plot is a little simplistic (I suspect some of the subtlety of the story was lost in translation), the action is polished but predictable, the humour doesn't always work (clearly the gun-buying scene was supposed to be slightly ridiculous) and the outcome is a bit predictable. It sits well with, but doesn't overshadow, the likes of Infernal Affairs and Oldboy. Having said that, it is still a hell of a lot better than most recent Hollywood action movies which are generally too brainless to be engaging.Loved itReview date: 2008-04-21 Rating: 10 out of 10This was right up my street. It has an edge with some great acting. Must be one of my favourite Korean offerings and at under a fiver it is a bargain! Elegant and CoolReview date: 2008-04-07 Rating: 10 out of 10If subject called revenge, absoluteley Korean movies Best....
i can see some similiraties between old boy, some scenes(fight), the way of music....i liked old boy, and impressed....old boy's scenario is magnificent,
In this movie scenario is not the best part but in overall more stylish, more elagant and the leading man is tremendous play...Yuhki Kuramato's music is great...
i am strongly recommend this movie. watch it, you will never regret.wonderfulReview date: 2008-02-19 Rating: 10 out of 10I watched this film shortly after watching Infernal Affairs which i thought was a great film, however this film is wonderful, I'm a convert to Far Eastern films, they are more original than anything coming out of America.
