DVD Description

Described as the 'female Little Britain' this 'filthy but fabulous' new BBC3 sketch show is packed with outrageous, grotesque and perverse characters that might make you cringe but will certainly make you laugh out loud. Meet the oh so shy Italian Maid 'Don't look at me'! Maxine Bendix whose addiction to plastic surgery has taken her down a messy route 'it's just a little bit of seepage', the creepy Don Peacock who loves to have a 'little wee-wee' on his ladies; Paula the twitching darter; a group of refined ladies who like to crochet with nothing on underneath and horny necrophiliac pathologists - it's anything but boring.

Horrendous.
Review date: 2008-04-24 Rating: 2 out of 10

The two big sketches that were used in PR advertising were the Pussycat Dolls parody that had fat women in it (wow, well done on that one), and the woman who says "yeah" a lot - which isn't even an original idea, since Harry Enfield had a short-lived character called Toby Carr-Michael who also said "yeah" a lot but actually had some substance behind him as well. This show, like Catherine Tate's 'effort', is an insult to comedy, and it's an absolute travesty that Little Britain is being blamed. At least Lucas and Walliams actually made an effort to create something long-lasting. Go back and watch the excellent first series, if you don't want to believe me, or listen to the superior radio show. The programme only diminished once THE FANS DEMANDED they see more and more catchphrase comedy from Vicky Pollard and co. Before then, it was genuinely intelligent stuff.

Tittybangbang, I'm afraid, is pure excrement.

Ive never seen anything so unfunny in all my life. A child of three could do better.

THE CAST DESERVE BETTER
Review date: 2007-10-09 Rating: 2 out of 10

The actors in this series (especially Lucy Montgomery, who seems to be able to morph into anyone she pleases) are excellent without exception. If only they had been given something approximating a script to work with...

Repeated characters and jokes make for lazy telly no matter what (unless you give your characters depth, and apply wide-ranging surreal imagination to them, as "The Fast Show" did) - repeated characters with no jokes make for a woeful half hour.

I can't wait to see the cast, collectively or individually, get to grips with some material worthy of them.

Not For Everyone, But Good
Review date: 2007-09-29 Rating: 8 out of 10

While the first series of this new sketch comedy is not without its flaws, it is certainly an entertaining watch. The performances from Lucy Montgomery and Debbie Chazen are excellent, and easily rival the talents of other sketch comedy leads. The script is fairly good, but perhaps could do with some work.

The content of the first series itself can be quite outrageous, while being amusing at the same time (although this does not always work out). The series has has a range of interesting characters, most of which are very funny and inspiring, while others are a little underwritten or cross the line a little too much. The prosthetics are great, and the editing is top class. All in all a good watch, although not for everyone.

Dreadful
Review date: 2007-09-25 Rating: 2 out of 10

I watched several episodes of this, but they were almost exactly the same. The humour relies purely on crudeness, which is applied liberally and without finesse. Some sketches seem to be entirely based on trying to create a catchphrase, with no actual substance based around them. Little Britain was rubbish. This is a poor imitation of that.
