Amazon.co.uk Review
This 1978 throwaway comedy is an episodic affair obviously inspired by American Graffiti and its multiple-story-line structure. Set during a single night at a disco, there are some nine distinctive, character-driven plots going on, including one featuring Donna Summer as an up-and-coming singer trying to get the club deejay to play her record. Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger are in the mix, too, and while no one's trying to make history with Thank God, It's Friday, it is funnier and fresher than most reviewers gave it credit for being. --Tom Keogh
Disco funtimes
Review date: 2002-08-28 Rating: 10 out of 10
This is a fun movie, every bit as relevant as Saturday Night Fever in depicting the disco generation. Unfortunately the music here is not as good as in SNF's gripping soundtrack. Donna Summer is excellent as the aspiring singer getting her big break. Enough funny scenes hold the attention and it's perhaps a less sanitized view of the disco era than Saturday Night Fever, what with a transvestite shaving his beard in the men's and stuff like that. The actual disco here is much more impressive than in the other movie. Still worth a laugh or two.

Kitschorama To The Max!Review date: 2001-04-07 Rating: 8 out of 10First! Very bad sound, I wish they would have remastered it. This movie was made at the height of the late 70s disco craze 1978! Many stars like Debra Winger, and Jeff Goldblum make their big screen debut. If you like disco this is a must have, not so much for the greatness of the movie (for it's not the Godfather), but for the simple joy and have fun attitude it conveys. The music is great, the jokes are great and the disco is a journey into the heaven of bad taste Yummy.
