Amazon.co.uk Review

It’s criminal, really, given the sheer outright quality of Family Guy that more people aren’t willing to give it a try. For while it tends to draw comparisons to The Simpsons--after all, it is a family-based animated comedy show--Family Guy very much has a voice of its own. It’s also less worried about catering to a family demographic, something the writers have little problem making the most of.

Season four has plenty of evidence for why the show shouldn’t be overlooked. Picking up the story of the family Griffin, this time more of the background characters are allowed into the limelight, and that’s really to the programme’s benefit. That’s not to say the main players are out of sight, and the quite wonderful baby Stewie has plenty of air time, but there’s a real ensemble feel.

The rapid-fire, razor-sharp wit and writing quality that’s become the trademark of the show is present and correct too, and the quality of the episodes on offer put season four up there as not quite the finest series of Family Guy to date, but it nonetheless runs things very close indeed. If you’ve not taken the plunge yet, you’ve really, really been missing out… --Jon Foster

Synopsis

The story of the Griffin family continues with the story of bumbling, well-intentioned father Peter; his sweet but oblivious wife Lois; and their teenagers, dim-witted Chris and awkward Meg. The most recognisable characters, however, remain the family's masterminds: evil genius baby Stewie, determined to achieve complete world domination at the age of one, and Brian, an erudite martini-swilling dog, the family's lone voice of reason. Includes all the episodes from Series 4.

Same old Family Guy, it's not getting better it's getting worse.

Well I've never been a massive Family Guy fan but I have always liked the programme I thought it was funny and original. But it seems to be losing it's creativity originality and comedy moments that made it so great on the first 3 seasons.

Now it has become excactly like "The Simpsons" (still better though). The episodes are good but not up to Family Guy standards, they all have funny moment but I feel like they've done it all before got it off some other good tv animated show. Aswell I think it's really stupid Family Guy fans trying to be cool and bashing the The Simpsons 1. It doesn't really matter & 2. There both as bad as each other. It seems that most programmes that become really popular just get lazy in their writting and continue to write badly written cheesey unfunny episodes so they'd get money easily. The one programme that actually stands out is South Park though it's overrated it still manages to keep it's creativity and hilarious moments in the programme. Family Guy fan? then buy this otherwise I wouldn't bother.

A lot of people seem to be bashing series 4 as not being as good as previous ones and while its not up to 3's standard its still better than anything the Simpsons, American Dad or South Park can muster up.

True the stories are more obviously all over the place with cut aways every minute or so but its still quality.

The Peter v Chicken fight is long, over the top and comes from nowhere, Brians racist barking, the family vomiting scene, Quagmire appearing from behind the couch at Megs sleepover.

Basically its an excellent season in its own right and shouldnt be compared or knocked due to the genious of previous seasons

Lucky there's a Family Guy...

Family Guy goes where The Simpsons, or indeed South Park, will never go. As the contest to find the best show rumbles on, you, my friend, are in presence of the item to buy.

Season 4 is the comeback season, after FOX canceled the show twice. It doesn't fail to come back and is, perhaps, maybe, one of the best. Episodes like Blind Ambition (the chicken fight is continued!) and Perfect Castaway give this season a huge boost over 1, 2 and 3. Even though it's a half season, don't let that put you off. The funniest thing on television lives again!

Episode List:

North by North Quahog
Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High
Blind Ambition
Don't Make Me Over
The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire
Petarded
Brian the Bachelor
8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter
Breaking Out Is Hard to Do
Model Misbehavior
Peter's Got Woods
Perfect Castaway
Jungle Love

Had me in stiches (especially Gary the no-trash cougar!!!) and it should have you in stiches too.

Family Guy
Review date: 2007-10-21 Rating: 10 out of 10

The Griffin Family are back once again, and once again they are just as brilliant. There are jokes left, right and centre once again, you won't go through five minutes of Family Guy without a laugh. Peter's arch nemesis the Giant Chicken returns to fight Peter once again after losing to him in a previous fight. And the Chicken Fight is even bigger, and funnier than the last one.
Family Guy is completely mad, the cutaways are brilliant. But once again, this shows that Family Guy is adult humour at it's finest
