I hadn't heard of this film, which I believe was one of those multi-part mini series on ITV, it was recommended by a friend.
It starts with 23 year old teacher Zoe Haratounian (Stephanie Leonidas) who tackles a thief. The story is picked up by the local press and suddenly she starts to get anonymous letters, she goes to the police station but is met with the comment "our poster girl" and upset she flees to what she hoped would be the sympathetic supportive arms of her boyfriend Fred (Lex Shrapnel). Fortunately for her she leaves the letter on the desk, but it still takes days for them to send PC Andrew Stadden (Jamie Draven) round to see her. The police then bring in her boyfriend as a suspect, only to release him when they realised they'd got the wrong man. He believes that she had him investigated and turns to his mates Maurice 'Moz' Burnside (Daniel Mays), and Jase (Michael Tucek) to fall back on. This, understandably, puts so much strain on the relationship that they break up.
Just when she thinks it's all over, she's killed at home.
Next Jennifer Hintlesham (Emma Fielding), who lives in affluence with her husband, businessman Dominic (David Westhead), and their sons 13 year old Josh (Hugh Mitchell) and 6 year old Christo (Beans El-Balawi). She receives a letter which says that her husband is having an affair - she believes it because he unfaithful before. Then she receives another and slices her fingers on the razor blades inside. Once again Fred comes under suspicion because he is their gardener. The letters continue to arrive, until she is attacked and murdered inside her own home with the children outside in the garden.
The stalker next moves on to pet shop sales assistant Nadia Blake (Rebecca Palmer).
She also gets a visit from the police PC Stadden (temporarily upgraded to detective) and his overbearing boss DCI Grace Shilling (Phyllis Logan). As Nadia and Stadden become closer she gets more information about the previous murders and starts to investigate herself.
I enjoyed this film, the final part seemed a little confused, but the benefit of the dvd is that you can watch it again and see where you got confused.
Unfortunately there are no extras (Region 2 sucks) and appallingly no English subtitles.
