The Dukes return for more 'Shuckin' and Jivin' Bo and luke have gone on the Nascar circuit so say hello to cousins Coy and Vance Duke (played wonderfully by Byron cherry and Christopher Mayer) classic episodes such as 'Vances lady' and Witness Uncle Jesse'(in which Uncle Jesse is temporarily blinded after witnesseing, and trying to stop a mugging, hitting his head on the pavement) ensure this is an unforgettable season.

Excellent episodes. Big Rewatch Value.Review date: 2006-07-12 Rating: 10 out of 10Despite Bo and Luke being absent for most episodes this season, it is actually a good season with Coy and Vance Duke. It has some excellent episodes such as "Witness: Jesse Duke" which is a brilliant episode and Denver Pyle as Uncle Jesse does some of his best acting and displays his great talent. Bo and Luke return for the last few episodes of season 5.
Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) and Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best) are at their funniest in season 5 and provide some of the best humour and laughs of the entire series. They both continue to scheme against the Dukes hatching their plots to frame "The Duke Gang"! Sorrell Booke's and James Best's chemistry and impressive performances are intact throughout, and they're both a great comedy double act (this season is worth watching just for these two excellent actors and their on-screen antics!).
In the episode "Farewell Hazzard" Boss Hogg is hilarious when he wears wigs to impress a female developer! Bo and Luke try to save Hazzard from destruction when Boss Hogg joins forces with an unscrupulous female developer to buy up the county to use it for mining. This is actually the storyline used in the new Dukes of Hazzard movie remake.
Other great episodes include "Hazzard Hustle" where Boss Hogg opens a horse betting shop and fixes it so he gets the money and the Dukes get the blame but Coy and Vance use Daisy to beat Boss at his own game! Also, in a "A Little Game of Pool" Uncle Jesse loses the farm to Boss Hogg when Boss talks Jesse into betting the farm in a pool match Jesse can't possibly win! Another favorite episode is "Welcome Back, Bo 'n' Luke" where Bo and Luke help out Cooter who's in trouble. In the 100th episode of the series "Coy Vs. Vance", Duke cousins Coy and Vance fight each other over a pair of motorcycle stuntwomen who double as highway robbers as one of them falls for Coy. In the great episode "The Great Insurance Fraud" Boss Hogg's phony insurance policies are thrown right back at him when con artists carry out a phony car accident.
This season 5 DVD box set is a must have for any Dukes of Hazzard fan so as to add to their Dukes DVD collection. The extras are "Hazzard County Stunt Team: Reunited and in Your Face" and "Cooters Place: Keeping the Dream Alive".
The episodes stand up to repeated viewings in season 5, just like they do in all the other seasons. I recommend this Dukes DVD as season 5 is still the same great show with drama, action, stunts, laughter and fun - Hazzard style!
