Review date: 2010-06-19 Rating: 10 out of 10
This is a great game as I bought it for my son who is rugby mad. He was really impressed and loved it. He loved the lion's tours and the many features to the game. Overall a great game and a must buy for any rugby fan.

The problems with Rugby 06Review date: 2009-10-29 Rating: 4 out of 10This game has some good points, but is spoilt by the few bad points. The good points are:- Lions tour, good tournament options, decent graphics, fun gameplay (except a few things which ill mention in my bad points), and good commentry.
Thing is when playing the game, all this can be spoilt simply because in scrums, rucks and malls you have absoultly no say in what happens! Even if you have 8 players to 2 in a ruck, randomly the computer will turn it over which can become infuriating. Its the same in scrums, at no point you are in control. Often when tackled your trying to form a ruck, when through no fault of your own a computer controlled player on your side runs offside, often resulting in a penalty or a turnover ball again very infuriating.
Another annying point is the computer if it wants to score, will score. Doesn't matter how many players you have back, trying to get one to tackle the runner is a problem, you either miss completly or no one even tries. Overall a decent game, but for those who can be frustrated by games that are at times out of your control, beware as a few annoying times ahead!Anyone for rugger?Review date: 2009-10-01 Rating: 6 out of 10Rugby games are thin on the ground these days. Still, we have this to play.
As rugby games go I suppose this is as good as it gets. I haven't played any others. The game has a lot in it including a good training mode and the usual single match, season etc. Graphics and controls are good, may'be a bit sensitive and there is a lot to remember. Scrums and rucks etc are timing based. That is your reaction time determines whether you succeed of not. An unusual change and one that does work, if you have the reactions of a fighter pilot.
As rugby games go this is not bad at all and still stands the test of time today. Mind you, there isn't much choice. You'll need to be a serious rugger fan to get the best out of it though.Best Rugby Game ever!Review date: 2008-10-11 Rating: 10 out of 10Rugby 2006 has had so much care put in the graphics, set plays(and new for 2006) club teams, off-load passing, quick line-outs and penalties, impact players and The Guiness Premiership!!!!!!
It is the first Rugby game where the producers have ever took time over the graphics. It has detailed faces, celebrations and injuries!!!!
If you like you can break the rules with high tackles or hitting an opponent-though your likely to get sent off for it if you do!!-.
It is definetly a must for all rugby fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!rugby 2006 reviewReview date: 2008-09-25 Rating: 4 out of 10Where do i start with this game, ok the team ratings we'll start with that England they are highly overrated and should be no higher than 75.
The other teams are rated quite acurately. the squads are not entirely accurate when this game was released Charlie hodgson was the England fly half not wilkinson.
Scrummaging - this is a lottery pack weights and scrummaging ability have absolutely no say on your teams ability to win the damn things, rugby 2004 was poor but the scrummaging for me was far superior in that game as the stats decided who was the better scrummagers.
rucks - as people have said before the rucks are just a lottery you win and lose the ball on the computers say so there is no way of competing, its ridiculous as jonah lomu rugby perfected rucks years ago.
goal kicking - the goal kicking is near impossible with kickers below 90 rated kicking ability, also the computer doesnt get effected by the wind at all when kicking yet in high winds your kicker cant kick from more than 30 metres
tackling - it is too difficult to line your men up with the computers players this leads to numerous soft tries
difficulty - despite the things against you it doesnt matter you are never in any danger of losing ive beaten the all blacks by 130 points on numerous occasions as it is too easy to break the line nearly 100% of the time
squads- when playing in tournaments before ive suffered around 13 injured players the computer doesnt allow you to call up reinforcements to help your squad instead you start some games with only a 19 player squad.
Lastly - when you are forced to play players out of position they cant catch the ball which is highly unrealistic. as if a real life professional wouldnt be able to catch the ball just because he is playing out of position
Bugs- there are numerous faults in this game which i cant be bothered going into
plus points of the game - graphics are quite good and some of the rolling mauls look realistic as are some of the tackles.
EA really need to stop spewing out these slap dash effort games and put as much effort into their rugby games as they do their football games which are in a different league
