Here I stand, both feet in the sand...
Review date: 2008-08-21 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is one of the GREAT British TV comedy-dramas. It's not just the lead characters that make this show, it's the jaw-droppingly beautiful and weird world they inhabit, and the people in it - Hodge's 'best friend' Eric; the inimitable Lloydy; Sgt. Polson; that bloke who owns the Chinese restaurant. It makes for feel-good viewing of the highest order; even in the darkest places the world of Roker Bridge is bursting with hope and wonder. The show takes a while to find its feet because there's a lot to introduce but by the third episode (Eric's job) it'll have you hook, line and sinker.

Meks me Laff
Review date: 2006-05-04 Rating: 10 out of 10

As Lloydy says "Meks me laff!". Tim Firth's brilliant TV comedy on DVD at last. It's been a long time coming - don't leave it too long for series 2 & 3.
Though Hodge's lancashire accent is a bit suspect, all the characters are wonderfully drawn in this wonderfully warm comic drama. Buy it! It's a classic.

The wait is finally over ..
Review date: 2006-05-02 Rating: 10 out of 10

Having loved this series the first time round I've waited patiently for over 10 years for the video and now DVD release. Just finished watching the first series htis weekend and it didn't disappoint. Being reaquanited with the various misfits from Roker Bridge was an opportunity to wallow in a bit of mid-90's nostalgic delight. I'd also forgotten how funny this could be. And how sexy Caroline Catz is/was...

Cant wait to get hold of the second series which I remember being even better than the first.

Makes me laff....

Better than playing Gurkha Tank Battle
Review date: 2006-04-20 Rating: 10 out of 10

A great TV series, the second and third are even better than this one. So to ensure they release them too, everyone should add it to their DVD collection. It has great characters that you care about, and a warm comedy that is missing from the BBC line up these days. The Milltown Brothers do great title music too. Its opposite the hotel!
