This DVD contains eight outstanding episodes of Coronation Street - which at this time was perhaps enjoying one of its peak periods. The episodes featured are a balance of high drama, with a lorry crashing into The Rovers Return at the fore, and comedy, with Fred Gee buying a wig and enduring the ridicule of the Rovers' regulars. Also a highlight throughout a number of episodes are the antics of Stan Ogden and Eddie Yeats - two of the greatest characters in Street history.
One gripe is that as the episodes do not follow on the stories are not shown in full. I think that it would have been more beneficial to ditch on or two episodes [such as the Rita and Bet caravan story] and replace them with episodes on one key story. For example, we are left in one episode with the lorry crashing into the Rovers but we do not get to see on the DVD the rescue operation and finding out what happened to the injured regulars.
However, the DVD is first-class and does give us a fine slice of 1970's Corrie!

You have to live in a cave or be a non member of the commonwealth to not know what Corrie is. This dvd is 8 of the best episodes of 1979. A well chosen selection of episodes that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You will laugh, cry and feel like you are a part of these wonderful people's lives in a little district of Weatherfield. A nothern England middleclass suburb of Manchester. It is a must have of any Corrie fan, and does not have the repetitive episodes we have seen in the past Character vhs series or the 60's to 89 (boring) series compiled by Daran Little. These episodes are fresh and new and not to be missed by any fan of this long running soap. (sorry Daran)
