No doubt JB is a phenomenal gitfiddler and the music is first class, but if like me you're a guitar player and like to see technique then buy SRV live at the Mocambo. This was filmed and editted by someone who wants more recognition than JB for the production. Dizzying camera sweeps and a max two second dwell on any camera angle only makes the viewer stop viewing. This DVD is not bought by people who put on background DVDs on poker nights but by serious fans who want to see their new hero do his stuff. If you want to see JB do his stuff, go see him live, this DVD will dissappoint.
Hot Blues Rock

As a guitar player I got into Joe Bonamassa on the strength of a single track that came on a guitar magazine disk (Takin' The Hit off this DVD). I then saw him live in my home town of Sheffield in 2006 and was blown away by his musical ability and sheer energy of performance.
Of course there is more to a live act than just the main man - his backing musicians are great too. Kenny Kramme on drums is on top form and Eric Czar on bass is the perfect compliment to Joe's guitar playing abilities. Just a pity they are no longer performing with Joe.
I've bought You And Me, So It's Like That, this Rockpalast DVD and more lately Sloe Gin. Joe is very talented, has a great voice and the production on everything I've bought so far is of a VERY high standard.
I'm less a fan of his acoustic work and more into the heavy blues/rock that he does so well. He also caters to 'his' audience with a good balance of his own material and covers.
My favourite track on this DVD is Takin' The Hit, seconded by The River which is just superb. If you like blues music and/or rock you MUST buy this as it is just a great package.

If you like Gary Moore you'll love this guy - even better and faster than Gary, Joe Bonamassa not only gives it big licks by the bucket load but his phrasing is fantastic, couple this with flawless playing at warp speed and you start to get the picture.
Joe started to play guitar at the age of four and practiced for six hours a day concentrating on speed and precision - well he managed to get just that!
The other two band members are also very good, the track 'Had To Cry Today' features a brillian bass line, While 'The River' is a slide guitar fest that starts slow then REALLY Rocks.
Also there is a very good version of New Day Yesterday (Jethro Tull).
This DVD Blew me away when I first watched it and had me trawling the net to see if he was gigging in this country, luckily he was, so I went down to see him and boy can he play live!
If you buy one music DVD this year make it this one - you will not be disappointed.

A breath of fresh air! Have seen Joe live on two occasions, at times i could`nt believe what i was seeing and hearing! This guy has it all, and he gives it to you in bucketloads.
Technically he is superb, his virtuosity is amazing, his energy unbelievable, and its all hear on this fantastic dvd.
I have purchased many guitar based dvds over the years and been disappointed at listening to the same old stuff re-worked over and over again, but not this time! Dont miss out, GO AND GET IT !!!
