A Botched Job.

Well what can I say…. I’m very, very upset about this DVD release. OK it was never going to be the complete Likely Lads, I think we (the fans) all knew that. But why have they missed off “Other Side of the Fence” and The Christmas Night with the Stars mini episode (what a lovely little bonus that would have been).

I would love to be giving this 5 stars, but sadly the BBC or should I say “2Entertaine” Have botched this one.

Cheat, Cheat, Cheat

Other reviewers are dead right. VERY disappointing to have been led to believe the other episodes had turned up, only to find it's only these AND not even including all KNOWN remaining shows, anyway!! IN ADDITION they still hold (and have shown fairly recently) a smashing little sketch recorded for their "Christmas Night With The Stars" annual Christmas show, introduced by Billy Cotton (1964)- said to be a coup at the time because it was such a new series. VERY sloppy!!
(There was a similar Steptoe sketch in a later year - wonder if they'll overlook that too!?)

Great!

Well a very welcome introduction to DVD format of this fantastic oldie based upon the daily lives of those two intrepid characters..."The Likely Lads". The magic between these two individuals works like clockwork. The programme is based in Newcastle/ NE England around the 60s/70's period. I remember it with great fondness and those of you that saw it on TV will need little reminder of the laughs and enjoyment that it produced. Like most programmes from early TV the script writing is excellent and takes these the two lads into all kinds of mischief and situations. Terry has the very sharp and sarcastic view of life and tends to be the one who causes all of the problems. On the other hand we have Bob.. the sensible but suffering one(didnt that mix seem to work so well years ago?) who unfortuantely finds himself constantly dispairing, being the butt of Terry's endless jokes and sarcasm and the one who has to sort out all of the problems. Superb stuff!!
