Cracking fun
Review date: 2008-06-20 Rating: 8 out of 10

This movie is stuffed full of car chases and ass kicking, unlike the Edith Wharton novel it's based on. This is far better, and great stuff. Watch it.

Exactly what....
Review date: 2008-02-14 Rating: 10 out of 10

Exactly what is you favourite thing? A pint of beer? Black Forest Gateau?
A Roast Dinner? A football match? Whatever it is, it is made from several components in all probablity. Some will be predictable in the same sense that a football match usually sees someone scoring a goal. So it is with this film. BUT Jason Statham is unusually well cast, and the film could never have any credibility without him. After that, you can easily accept this film as an action movie "likely" to be realistic, and at that point you can grip the armrests of your chair and revel in the excitement of an action movie that is very well made. You will also find yourself watching it more than once. Now that it is in bargain basement territory, your money will be very well spent buying this excellent movie.Even if it was still at full price it would be a worthy purchase, so now it is just a bargain. We all like a bargain don't we?

Utterly mediocre
Review date: 2007-09-07 Rating: 4 out of 10

If you like worn out stereotypes (ex soldier with a troubled past, never seen that one before) unimaginative plots and wooden acting this may well be for you. This is a poor man's Bond and it shows. Strachan's acting is slightly better than say, the cast of `Rome' the series, but thats not difficult. The action is passably well done, but overall this is a film you'll watch once then stick in the back of the cupboard.

I expected much more from Luc Besson and Corey Yuen

A REALLY GOOD ACTION MOVIE
Review date: 2007-08-01 Rating: 8 out of 10

The Transporter (2002) was a fun action film that was directed by Jet Li's fight director Corey Yuen and it starred Jason Statham. Jason stars as Frank Martin. He's a hired gin who does driving jobs for a hefty fee. For his services he'll use his superb driving skills to get his paying customers out of a jam. He asks no questions and needs precise instruction in order to perfectly time his getaways. His number one rule is to never ask questions. One day he takes a gig from a sleazy and shady man named Betancourt (Matt Schulze). Instead of delivering the goods, he breaks his number one rule and peeks inside the package...

A fun action film filled with bone breaking action and wild stunts. People have unfairly slammed this movie for being unrealistic. What do you expect? The action scenes are performed to flamboyant ans stylized you have to suspend belief. It's one of those movies that doesn't throw in realism all of a sudden to make the movie more interesting. Jason Statham is pretty cool as well as the Transporter and he seems legit, not another tough guy phony. HE looks like he can knock the tar out of you in a real fight. Co-stars Shu Qi (she learned to speak English phonetically for her role in this movie).

Highly recommended.
