The Simpsons - Season 6
First aired back in the mid-nineties, the show had really hit its stride following a massively successful fifth series and this series marks a particularly popular period in the show’s history, with celebrity interest bringing a gamut of guest appearances. So, we see Winona Rider in ‘Lisa’s Rival’, Kelsey Grammar in ‘Sideshow Bob Roberts’ Meryl Streep in ‘Bart’s Girlfriend’ and Mel Brooks and Susan Sarandan in ‘Homer vs. Patty and Selma’. But perhaps the most notable, certainly the most amusing, guest vocal is offered by Patrick Stewart in the barnstormingly funny ‘Homer The Great’, which also features one of the funniest Simpsons’ songs ever--‘The Stonecutters Song’. Other highlights include Bart vs. Australia (‘Hey, I think I hear a dingo eating your baby!’), Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy, in which Homer and Grampa Simpson attempt to sell their homemade viagra-like revitalising tonic to the world, and Two Dozen and One Greyhounds, featuring the second of the great Simpsons’ songs to appear here--‘See My Vest’. And to top it all off, there’s part one of the only ever Simpsons two-parter, ‘Who Shot Mr. Burns’. The two-parter prompted months of speculation over in the US when first aired and remains an expertly executed slice of Simpsons’ history. This is The Simpsons on top form. as a fan of the brilliant hit series the simpsons i admire the sixth season.the simpsons 1st season looked a little disappointing but this is almost as good as season 9.season six features my most favorite episodes lemon of troy,treehouse of horror and loads more.you will also be amazed by the features you will find on some discs and the humor of some episodes.the simpsons is my favorite tv show and im glad im old enough to watch it.the charecters in season six are well drawn and their episodes are impressive and never get boring.if you love the simpsons youll love their new season boxset filled with extra features,25 episodes and especially the funny simpsons commericals.

I can't recommened this DVD boxset enough, it is a superb package for all Simpsons fans.
The sixth season is easily one of the best in Simpsons history, when this series was first broadcast, it was still the golden age of the cult cartoon classic. Episodes like "Itchy & Scratchy Land", "Sideshow Bob Roberts", "And Maggie Makes Three", "Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 1" are just laugh out loud hilarious! When you watch these DVDs, there really is little wonder why the Simpsons is still going and as a popular today as it was back when it started. The whole package of the DVD sets are truely fantastic and with so many bonus features chucked in, you'll be entertained for hours.
I recommened this to everyone who has a passion for the greatest cartoon series of all time but be warned, this is a package of which you find yourself playing in your DVD player over and over, again and again.

This season is in my opinion the perfect Simpsons season, and by that I mean amazing jokes, brilliant animation and guest atars not playing themselves. Every episode is 5/5 for me, there's not a dud in the bunch in my eyes but here are my favourites:

Brilliant, Genius, Wonderful

Don't be fooled - The Simpsons has never had a Golden Age, its just maintained its brilliance. This season, number 6 continued that trend with a superlative set of wonderful episodes. Homer Badman being my favourite of the season words fail me to really convey just how brilliant this television programme is. Barts Comet, A Star is Burns (featuring the best black and white seqeuence ever TM in a animated television programme), The PTA Disbands and Lemon of Troy are just a taste of the genius that lay within this wonderful DVD set. Sit back and prepare to laugh.
