The Thundercats recalls nostalgic memories for many children of the 80s/90s. Personally, it was my favourite TV show growing up; and nothing else came close to the magic of the Sword of Omens, the character and nobility of Lion-O, and the wickedness, ferocity and frankly the scariness of Mumm-Ra!

It was an excellent show: the animation alone was preëminent and ahead of its time. And it not-so-subtly gave basic moral lessons in each episode: possibly characteristic of children's shows back then especially. Watching it now (as a 21-year old), I do notice some of the subtler humour/in-jokes and sexual innuendo; and the characters are generally very scantily clad and are (surprisingly) very sexually evoked (all the male characters (barring the 'child' characters and one or two badies) have the physiques of body-builders on steroids).

As a criticism: now, some of the platitudes rolled out in many of the episodes feel truly cringeworthy; and the moral lessons become repetitive to the point where it feels like the last minute of every episode is always exactly the same. Also, a lot of the 'magic' of those halcyon days of youth is spent, and so it can become difficult to watch two episodes in a row.

None the less, for retro-geeks everywhere this is a must.
