Oh Dear it's a Universal Playback title
Review date: 2007-07-21 Rating: 2 out of 10

Yes,Universal Playback!! What can I say, except that this company loves to buy titles and then let fans hang waiting for further seasons that never materialise! They usually do it with popular BBC series, and in my opinion they should be boycotted!. Whats the point of releasing 3 seasons of a show and leaving the final two on the shelf. OK 4 & 5 weren't all that, but completists want them for heavens sake. God, I hate these companies, don't you??!!

The Second Half Is it's main failing: (
Review date: 2006-10-04 Rating: 6 out of 10

Good Points:

1] The Adventure continues, the series kicks off and goes on to bring us some classic science fiction moments.

2] The chemestry and characterisation goes further, the family feel that the first two seasons set in motion grows and peaks in the episode two part "Exodus".

Bad Points:

1] The show losses the unique feel

2] The second half is poor due to the loss of one of the shows main characters in leiu of some chick with a gun that may be great for some but offers not philasophical debates between the group and no time to fully appreciate the worlds they go to like they did in season 1 and 2.

3] The ending is poor, the cliche's are aplenty and the revenge plot that rears it's ugly head after "Exodus 1 +2" is so poor and rather boring i found myself watching the episodes after the two parter based on reviews in no order but to see the highlights amidst the murk.

Overall season 3 is ok not that bad but nothing better than the first two seasons at least, if you are a fan or just looking for a little nostalgia it may be worth buying since the chemestry between the 4 is there until the fateful mid season two parter.

What a shame they did what they did half way through and didn't wait untill season 4 to make the changes like they did with the horrid Krommag story arc in season 4 when the show's two final seasons hit rock bottom for the most part.

Oh dear, has it come to this?
Review date: 2006-04-13 Rating: 4 out of 10

A once great show goes to another dimension of badness. It's not awful, but it's not what it used to be. The Professor is a wonderful character, far more entertaining than the frankly one-dimensional Maggie. While the reasons for his replacement are obvious - overweight, intelligent middle-aged man changed for a gun toting Lara Croft wannabe - the effects are exactly what you'd expect. What's worse is the lack of intelligent thought put into the new worlds. Where we once had social commentary and scientific debate, we get magicians, dragons, aliens, dinosaurs (again) and, possibly most unbelievably of all, vampires. They also manage to rip off Day of the Triffids, The Island of Dr Moreau and even the Time Machine. It still has some great moments and times when you can see the old magic but they are few and far between.

As for the quality of the DVD boxset itself, the episodes are listed wrong again (one isn't even on the list) and there are times when they are in obviously the wrong order (again). No special features, interviews or commentaries. Watch 1&2, ignore later seasons, and enjoy a great show.

No Subtitles
Review date: 2005-12-10 Rating: 2 out of 10

Sliders Season 1 and 2 boxset was subtitled but Sliders Season 3 has no subtitles at all.

If you need subtitles in order to follow the dialogue, this boxset has none.

Overall, a very disappointing experience for me.

Exodus Part 2 Not Missing!
Review date: 2005-11-17 Rating: 10 out of 10

I'm nearly at the end of this box set and am still thoroughly enjoying it, even though some of the stories are extremely far-fetched. I didn't get to see all the episoded when they were on TV so am grateful to the invention of DVD and Universal Playback.

In response to the reviewer below - the title listing in the DVD case is all wrong and Exodus Part 2 IS on the DVD, on disk 4 you need to click on "Next" at the bottom of the episode selection screen (each screen only shows 4 episodes). I'm glad I found it as I want to see part 2, even though the outcome has been spoiled by a previous reviewer.
