Why would any one watch any sci-fi movie or any thing at all except thisReview date: 2008-02-04 Rating: 10 out of 10There is nothing more formidable than this, all what human being are trying hard to impress us in Hollywood movies is outwitted by small insects.
All War and Love techniques could be learned from them.
Just Brilliant.
Bravo DavidHIDef delightReview date: 2007-11-04 Rating: 10 out of 10Its all been said as far as content and fascination and wow look at those bugs. I just wanted to say that as a way of trialling my new 37 inch HiDef TV this series was a corker; much of it was filmed in High Definition and it shows, even on a standard DVD. The colours and depth of image are beautiful and I watched nearly the whole thing in one sitting. Its the sort of programme that makes it worth lashing out on a BIG television :-)Only complaint - it's too shortReview date: 2007-08-14 Rating: 10 out of 10We have got used to the high quality of David Attenborough's nature programmes over the years, combining as they do fascinating information, excellent photography, and just the right amount of perosnal intervention by Attenborough himself. Unlike in some more "modern" documentaries there is no zingy music, flashing, fast-zooming, over-repetition of good shots, or over-exposure of the presenter.
"Life in the Undergrowth" makes use of technological advances in cameras to explore the planet at a much lower level than previous series - lower both in the sense of getting down to or into the earth, and in the sense of capturing the extraordinary lives and acticvities of often-tiny creatres. The variety and sophistication of the world thus revealed is both fascinating and impressive.
This series is a must-have for anyone interested in nature programmes. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough of it, it leaves you wishing there were more.Simply astoundingReview date: 2007-03-30 Rating: 10 out of 10The technology used to create this DVD is astounding enough as the subject matter itself. Macro/Microscopic lens technology is used for the majority, and the high speed motion capture cameras freezing single frames seperating individual wing flaps on dragonflies...phew. It's breath-taking...
The first ten minutes of this dvd tell you how good it's going to get, I found myself immediately drawn into this new world I had no idea existed, seeing all these creatures and their individualistic attributes and evolution pattern making them all incredibly good at what they do.
Honestly worth a watch, it's fascinating!
