It's hardly an original plot, but perhaps that's fitting for a movie sewn together like Frankenstein's monster. It rushes from one frenetic battle to another, replacing sense with spectacle--Nemo's submarine rising from the water, a warehouse full of zeppelins bursting into flame, Venice collapsing into its own canals. It's flashy, dumb, and completely incoherent. Fans of the original comic book will be disappointed. --Bret Fetzer

Amazon.co.uk Review
The heroes of 1899 are brought to life with the help of some expensive special effects in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. From the pages of Victorian literature come Captain Nemo, Dr Jekyll (and his alter ego Mr Hyde), Dorian Gray, Tom Sawyer, the Invisible Man, Mina Harker (from Dracula), and the hunter Allan Quatermain (Sean Connery), all assembled to combat an evil megalomaniac out to conquer the world.
Great film, but sound wasn't too great.

I watched the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in Singapore last summer and I thought it was supurb. I also bought my PSP console out there aswell, as it was a lot cheaper compared to over in Britain, and the PSP console hadn't come out at that point. I was really pleased when I discovered that the film had actually been made for UMD and I bought it on Amazon for only £14.99 last month. The film itself is brilliant and the picture quality is surprisingly as good as a DVD, but the only downside is the sound because I turned the volume up to the maximum and I could barely hear it, so I had to wear the headphones. In my opinion, just buy the DVD because you can watch it at home or on a portable DVD player. If you like films and you have a PSP buy it, but if you have a PSP and you prefer to watch films with good sound and when you are comfortable, by the DVD and spare 5 or 6 ££££s. Thank you for reading!
