Timelessly brilliant

A series which needs to be revived, still as funny today as it was when first recorded

Still very funnyReview date: 2009-04-02 Rating: 10 out of 10If you enjoyed Drop the Dead Donkey when it was originally aired in the 90s then you'll enjoy this 2 disc DVD of the 3rd series. It's great seeing the old faces on DVD, Damien Day, Gus Hedges, George, Dave, Henry, straight-laced Sally & more. This series starts with the introduction of Helen who replaces Alex. The disc is good as it reminds you of the headlines for that week before each episode to refresh you so it's still makes you laugh.Very entertainingReview date: 2007-07-24 Rating: 10 out of 10Series 3 is a joy, and a lot of fun to watch. The characters are generally strong, and a lot is done in this series to make them three dimensional, even though they are a bit caricatured. Many of them show different sides to their personalities, and new girl Helen fits in very well.
There are some extras - the usual set of interviews and anecdotes - which are nice to see, although they could have made more effort (Dr Who and Red Dwarf DVDs are great examples of what can be done).
In this series, they had established themselves and managed to get a few politicians and other celebrities to make guest appearances, including Ken Livingstone and Neil Kinnock, all of whom do a creditable job.
I can't wait to get the next series - it's just a shame they are over so quickly!Drop dead funny!!!Review date: 2006-01-10 Rating: 10 out of 10This dvd is just like a fine bottle of wine, it just gets better and better with age!Great buy!Best of BritishReview date: 2005-07-07 Rating: 10 out of 10As Alex has left Globelink News, her replacement is found. But as always, it's Sally and Henry that steal every scene they're in. This season Sally's accountant steals Henry's money. Later she sues a newspaper for the money. A new newsreader joins Globelink News, but a jealous Henry & Sally combine forces to try and get her the sack. A superb duo indeed.Another scene stealer is the unfortunately named Joy. This season she dates a married man, and is chief suspect when he is stabbed. Then in the season's last episode she and Sally turn up to an awards ceremony in the same dress.
Also worth mentioning is when Sir Royston's wife seduces a clueless Gus in 'Lady Merchant'.
