More Dino Thunder action in this Power Rangers series. This time round, a meteor crashes into the Earth, changing the personalities of the Power Rangers to dramatic effect.

The 4th volume of the five seperate available Power Rangers Dino Thunder is when the series starts to unravel a lot further and starts to tell its story in more depth. It boasts five episodes of the series all put together in a format similar to a film. It continues without the credits and openings for each episode, which is very useful because your concentration becomes more focused on the story at hand.
During volume 3 ('White Thunder'), the story mostly revolves around the newly created evil white ranger. Trent Fernandez accidentally received chameleon powers, though the power seems too strong for Trent to remain good. This is due to the fact that the white dino gem is predominantly evil, and intended to be used for Mesogog's evil schemes in reverting the Earth back to the time of the dinosaurs.
The story starts when a strange meteor crashes down onto Reefside, and bringing out different persinalities that lay dormant within anyone that comes into contact with it. Conner becomes more studious, Kira's fashion sense surfaces, Ethan becomes competitive and Trent's dormant good-side surfaces, allowing him to 'join' the rangers for a brief period. However, it also brings out a want-to-fight mechanism within Mesogog's newly created mutation who is a natural coward. Hayley reckons the meteor's powers can free Dr Oliver from his fossilized state, which turns out to be true; though the meteor's powers are destroyed during the process of de-fossilization. And Tommy's dino gem and morpher fuse together, making him not able to 'power-down' and return to his civilian form.
In the next episode 'Burning at Both Ends', evil white ranger and Mesagao hatch a plan to steal the rangers zords. They convince Trent has turned good and that he is going to offer the rangers a peace offering; a new bracchail ATV. This turns out to be a trap and the ranger's ATV's are de-fused in the process (though Hayley fortunately is able to fix and improve them later). The rangers keep Trent at bay, now able to attach new zords to his own zord and he is driven away finally. This leaves the ranger's tension and hatred toward Trent extremely high, but they are still positive in freeing Trent from the evil dino gem's powers.
In 'The Missing Bone' Kira is possessed by an experiment of Anton Mercer and Dr Oliver - a creature with telepathic abilities that proved too difficult to control. He convinces Kira to steal a bone from Tommy's lab and bring it to the museum where the creature is being kept. This happens to be the main support bone that the creature needs to become whole again; then he starts his rampage on the town. He is defeated by the Thundersaurus megazord and the town is safe once again.
The personal highlight for me in this volume is 'Lost and Found in Translation'. This episode focuses around a fictional television programme that is aired on a Japanese programme, telling the stories of the Dino Rangers and dubbed into English. Ironically the footage is taken from 'Abaranger'; the Japanese show that Power Rangers Dino Thunder is loosely based upon. It shows how similar yet different the two shows are, yet they are one in the same. A truly extraordinary example of culture between two cultures; that there are differences but these are created from one foundation.
The 'film' is presented in full frame, with English subtitles if required by the viewer. There are also numerous bonus features; one is a sneak peek in the next season of Power Rangers (S.P.D). Another is titled, 'Return of the Ranger', in which Dr Oliver displays his fighting abilities and tells us of his history as a power Ranger and about the new generation of his dino rangers. There is also another kata demonstraion in which you are told in video form how to perform a combo kata. This is probably the most illuminanting volume so far and will keep you on the egde of your seat. You will not be disappointed with such a great buy, and you will be waiting fervently for the next volume in the series to fulfill your viewing pleasure.

I use to watch Power Rangers when I was young but soon grew out of it. I only noticed this series when I found out actors from The Tribe were featuring in this series, which is partly why I have found this series great. Namely James Napier, Tom Hern and Miriama Smith.

This DVD features the episodes: Leader of the Whack, Burning at Both Ends, The Missing Bone, Bully for Ethan and Lost and Found in Translation.

The episode Bully for Ethan features Dwayne Cameron who was Bray in The Tribe.
