The move of production to Los Angeles and the new executive producer David Peckinpah drove Sliders into the ground, with movie rip-offs and monster-of-the-week episodes. The sacking of John Rhys-Davies as Professor Arturo and the introduction of bland action doll Kari Wuhrer as Maggie Beckett was the biggest mistake of the season. Terrible episodes include one where they find talking fire, one with telepathic dream invaders, one with dragons and magic, one that's basically a re-telling of h.g. welles 'the time machine', one with a giant mutant worm, one with zombies, one with vampires, one that's an obvious rip-off of 'species' and so on and so on. Not what I tuned into to Sliders to watch! This box set seems rushed together. The packaging is awful, and episodes have been encoded on double sided dvds, a sure way to ensure early damage from handling. Like the first Sliders boxset, episodes are presented in broadcast order instead of actual order, although the order isn't as badly shuffled as the first two seasons! Extras are pretty slim aswell. There are episodes of Cleopatra 2525 and Earth 2, to promote their recent release on dvd, and a cut down version of the Season 3 gag reel. Not even a documentary or interview with anyone - what a waste. The concept of parallel worlds with alternate histories has well and truly gone. The two-stars I have given are for those 5 good episodes mentioned at the beginning. Unfortunately, that isn't enough to warrant a purchase. Rent it instead.

Bad Season, Bad Boxset
Review date: 2005-08-04 Rating: 4 out of 10
There are 25 episodes in this season, and only 5 of them are any good: "Double Cross", "The Guardian", "Dead Man Sliding", "The Prince of Slides" and "Season's Greedings".
