Murder in Mind
Review date: 2008-05-28 Rating: 10 out of 10

A brilliant boxed set. worth every penny, a great series that you can watch over and over again. Contract starring adam Faith is by far the best episode, closely followed by Landlord, staring Nicholas Lyndhurst. but every episode is great and well worth watching

Be with the murderer
Review date: 2008-05-17 Rating: 10 out of 10

I have not seen all of these episodes, but have seen many on the TV. The difference in this EXCELLENT series is that usual murder mysteries start with a dead body, continue with the police investigation to ultimately catch the murderer, but in this series you know ahead that the murderer wants to kill the victim, and follow him through his setup and crime. Gripping viewing and top-notch actors in every episode. Probably, like Morse, actors would want to appear in one episode.

Murder In Mind = The BBC at it's very best
Review date: 2007-06-21 Rating: 10 out of 10

I have to say that if the BBC consistently showed programmes of this quality, then I could forgive them for the licence fee, unfortunately they don't as it is fast turning into a talent (or should I say talentless) versus lifestyle channel (cooking, gardening, property and DIY etc.) and so the licence fee should definitely be abolished and then they can call it TVL (Talentless Versus Lifestyle Channel), okay maybe I am being a little bit harsh there but only because of the quality of this programme proves that they are capable of producing something special like this and so it is frustrating that they choose to go down the cheap tak route instead.

I know everybody likes different things but trust me if you have never seen this when I say that this really is a superb programme in a similar style as for example Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Tales Of The Unexpected and although it did feature a few soap actors (I truly hate soaps), even this can't spoil it and at least it was some of the better soap actors.

Without going into too much detail (I can't remember the stories exactly and at the time of writing don't have this boxset), this was to put it simply, one hour long stories about all types of people who end up (or already commited?) either intentionally or accidentally, you guessed it, murdering somebody all for different reasons for example a clash with the neighbours or somebody spreading vicious rumours etc. and I think as I remember that sometimes if not all time, the lead character had to try and avoid getting caught by getting rid of the evidence etc. and so it was all rather tense.

Another thing I'd like to say about the BBC is their treatment of this programme, as I can remember them a lot of the time (not all the time) putting this on randomly on different days and so I had to keep my eyes open in the TV guide as to when it was going to be on next.

Anyway I have said just about all I have wanted to say about this great programme and it is just a shame that there weren't a lot more episodes of it, as I think it had the potential to go on for a long time considering the endless possibilities and different types of people from different backgrounds etc., who knows, somebody from the BBC might read this and get them to make some more episodes, but I am a cynical person and so I expect them to carry on with more cheap tak TVL type programmes instead, oh well I can live in hope.

Classic Series
Review date: 2005-09-13 Rating: 10 out of 10

This is a boxed set, comprising three DVD's, each one a complete series of Murder In Mind, shown originally on BBC from 2001 to 2003. The stories and acting is superb throughout.

Murder comes in many disguises..Revenge, an obnoxious person making life hell, sometimes a case of someone being in the wrong place at wrong time, school bullies being brought to justice, fatal attraction turning to hate, jealousy, many different cases are explored in the series, always using fine actors, actresses and writers.

Some episodes assume parodies; "Regrets" stars Dennis Waterman as an over stressed businessman, enraged by his way too officious bank, who take apparent delight in overseeing the death of small businesses; "Neighbours" sees Kevin Whately driven to despair by the neighbour from hell next door.

"Mercy" stars the always excellent Timothy West as an outwardly compassionate doctor helping his stricken wife, Judy Parfitt, to assisted suicide. "Teacher" shows David Suchet as a respected headmaster with a dark secret. "Landlord" stars Nicholas Lyndhurst as a spooky landlord, who's thrifty ways of staying in business lead to tragedy for a tenent. In "Contract" Adam Faith is superb as a hitman determined to teach his would be cliens a lesson. One of the most ingenius episodes stars Diana Rigg in "Suicide" as a vengful Mother, who's tragic secret dates back to 1975 and a severly bullied schoolboy.

Each episode a self contained story, making intriguing, high quality viewing. Highly recomended.

Gripping series worth every penny!

"Murder in Mind" is one of the most gripping, well written and excellent tv dramas in a long time with super actors who are mostly well known. The storylines are very good in each episode and make compelling viewing.
Go and buy this excellent set. You wont regret it!
