Fantastic series but I have to echo everyone else's thoughts. Why has series two not been released? It's stupid logic to release series one but then forget about series two. I suggest people who want series two released send emails to Contender and ask them if any release is planned. The more the better.

Very entertaining show

This is another Lynda La Plante drama and a very good one too. The lead actor Jane Mcteer does a great job in this opening series and by the time the dvd is finished she has really established the character. I must say that I did think twice about buying this show as only series one was available which always frustrating as you do not know if series 2 is going to be available. I would love to see series 2 to see if Miss Hewitt does survive as the governor of Barfield Prison-is that possible?
Lastly, the current Amazon price is perfect for this set if it had been higher I would have skipped on it

I watched this series when it was originally screened and rented the DVD to watch it again, as I thought the series was fantastic.
I agree that the second series should be released so people can follow the story to it's conclusion instead of being left wanting more, like I have been.
I would certainly recommend this DVD to all fans of Lynda La Plante and people who enjoy gritty drama, it is fantastic!

The Governor is a Lynda La Plante Production { Prime Suspect - The Commander Trial & Retribution Killer Net etc etc }
and the only Complaint I have is that they have not released The Governor Series Two on Dvd.
Even although this was on TV Ten years ago it really is remarkably fresh and is very well acted.
You will spot many fine actors in the six episodes { including Nicholas Ball in the second episode }
Janet McTeer is excellent and she really does face up to the Problems not just from the Prisoners themselves but the manipulation by the Home Office as well.
This was so good I watched the two disk set in one session.
If you are into well acted British Drama then you will love this dvd.
The second series was on TV back in 1996 so is it not time they release it onto the DVD Market ?
