Amazon.co.uk Review
Will Young's latest 'in concert' DVD Live in London finds the former Exeter Uni politics graduate turned original Pop Idol champ and latterday Brit Award winner wooing - rather successfully - the largely female party faithful in the cavernous surroundings of Wembley Arena in December 2004. It's a grand stage for a chap who seems rather like a paragon of old-school British inhibition and no amount of hot 'n' loose sub-Cuban grooving ("Over You"), dance exertion or even an invitation to "Light My Fire" results in the breaking of much sweat from his brow. But you can't help warming to his reluctance. Celebrity for celebrity's sake is - quite possibly - some way down the list on Young's priorities and he's evidently working on his more-than-ample talent. And how refreshing that his musical and dancing entourage - far from being faceless supporting technocrats languishing in the shadows - are utterly and democratically integral to the Will Young live experience. Live in London is also loaded with juicy extras including the videos for "Your Game", "Leave Right Now" and "Friday's Child", interviews and fly-on-the-wall footage of rehearsals, choreography not to mention fooling around in clown's clothing. --Kevin Maidment

Fabulous EntertainmentReview date: 2008-03-07 Rating: 10 out of 10This DVD is a few years down the line now,but it is still a fantastic stage show - the music, choreography, lighting, makes for a very special concert from Will Young.Young and Brilliant (and shy?)Review date: 2006-05-29 Rating: 8 out of 10I think this show is brilliant, the choreography is amazing (some high moments like Friday's Child and Out OF My Mind give chills!!) and the smart and ellegant way that Mr Young chose to promote his previous album "Friday's Child" is one-of-a-kind. His new versions of songs like Over You make this DVD even more special. But although he's been on show bussiness for few years, winning one Brit Award, and he's done a great show - from my point of view - similar to Madonna's Girlie Show (that's a big deal), I think he's too young to be so conscious about the band and the dancers and not so about the public. He's a showman, that's for sure, but not a Divo yet.Absolutely fantasticReview date: 2006-01-25 Rating: 10 out of 10This is the best Will Young dvd I've seen. You can hear him so clearly he sounds like he's right in front of you and he gives a wave to the camera now and again which gives the feeling that he's waving at you. His dancing is good and there's a friendly flirty vibe between Will and his band. His singing is flawless and has really developed since the previous tours. He performs a more upbeat version of Evergreen which I loved and a chilled version of Free which is excellent. This dvd has brilliant extras, when Will goes backstage between numbers you can follow him and see what he sees which is great. In total there are 17 songs, videos of Fridays child, Your Game and Leave Right Now with added footage of how they were made. This is a must have for not only his fans but anyone who appreciates a brilliant performer in his element. There's also an interview with Will which feels like he's chatting to you in your living room - very relaxed and down to earth. I've seen this dvd loads of times and never tire of watching. Will Young Live in London DVDReview date: 2005-05-03 Rating: 10 out of 10This DVD is a must have for any fan of the multi-talented Will Young. He performs to a rapturous crowd at Wembley Arena as part of his second sell out tour of 2004. He sings 18 songs from his 2 multi-platinum selling albums including new versions of Over You, Evergreen, Free and show opener Friday's Child as well as a new ballad Save Yourself, his version of Donny Hathaway's I love You More Than You'll Ever Know and Earth Wind and Fire's In the Stone(complete with funky dance routine). Will Young shows he is more than a nice bloke with a great voice. He is an all round entertainer who knows how to put on a varied show that has something for everyone. His vocals are flawless, his dance moves are sensual and the backdrops and video images used are stunning. He is supported by fantastic musicians, backing singers and dancers and their rapport with Will is clearly evident. The DVD includes a host of highly entertaining extras including rehearsal footage, interviews with Will and his creative team as well as the videos and making of features for Friday's Child, Leave Right Now and Your Game. Also look out for the "hats" that appear on screen during certain songs as you can go backstage during costume changes too! Great value for money.
