A GOOD ENTRY IN THE SERIES

Reporter Amy Klein (Kari Wuhrer) is assigned to a case involving a strange new cult called the Deaders and their leader, Winter (Paul Rhys) who promises eternal life for his followers if they commit suicide and allow him to bring them back to life. Thinking it's nothing but a rumor, Amy searches Romania for the elusive Winter, to no avail. After getting into hot water with the authorities over a simple misunderstanding at a train station, her boss, Charles Richmond, (Simon Kunz) comes in to see what she has done with the story. Following her only lead, she descends into Romania's underground and finds Winter and his followers. With Amy introduced into Winter's world, Pinhead (Doug Bradley) doesn't appear to happy about what the cult is doing, and uses Amy as a pawn to bring about a war with the cult.

The Good News: This was actually not that bad, and don't know why a lot of people don't like it. While not being very overtly gory, this is certainly a bloody film. There is a lot of blood spilled in this one, and while the deaths are pretty violent, there is more blood in dealing with the aftermaths of everything than the deaths. It's a pretty nice change, as it keeps the gore in the movie while not having to resort to deaths we've all seen before. I welcomed it greatly. It lead to a couple memorable scenes anyway: the scene in Amy's bathroom, which features a twist that is completely original and really mind-blowing, and the train station. That one is a little on the funny side, but the blood still appears to make it worth while. The deaths we get are pretty graphic, so they do keep the graphic-ness of the movie's other scenes in there as well. There's also one scene I really want to comment on: the scene in the friends' bathroom. How they came up with that scene, I don't know, but it is the best scene in the movie and is quite a highlight. See it just for that scene alone. This is also a pretty good mystery movie for the last half of the film, as it features a well-thought series of clues to finally lead us to what it wanted to do.

The Bad News: The endless jumping around and transporting of characters around in different locations got very tiring after a while. It always happened right around a particularly scary part, which got on your nerves. This happened quite frequently, and it was a real distraction and the only thing I didn't really like about this one.

The Final Verdict: The only thing really wrong with this one is too many transporting around, wondering if what happened was a dream or not. The film is pretty good, and should definitely be sought after by those that want to enjoy a cheap film filled with blood and gore. Hellraiser fans may want to exceed caution, as it isn't a true film in the series and might be a little off-setting for most.

"I am your redeemer, I am the way." - Pinhead

I love these sequels they are alot like the graphic novels of the short hellraiser stories which I recommend. This sequel is cool, the acting is great and the story is powerful and enigmatic in that you never quite know what is going on until the movie has ended. One of the bloodline creators of the box seeks to harnace the power to create his own army of zombies or Deaders against the forces of hell by killing willing victims and raising them using the box (almost like the resurrection of Julia and Frank but with less blood) The lead character is awesome as the sassy reporter who gets a little to much hell than she is used to, also check her out in The Prophecy 4: Uprising and The Prophecy 5: The Forsaken.

Extra non released Hellraiser Movie hidden on the DVD.

If you own or wish to own this DVD and wish to know what to expect , i believe the other Reviews given are correct ,, BUT non of these reviews give the die hard hellraiser fans what we want,, On this DVD is a hidden Easter Egg Short Movie Called "no more Souls" made by Gary J. Tunnicliffe who was the special makeup effects fella behind most of the later hellraiser movies..
This Short Movie has the cenobites Pinhead,Chatterer and Bound in the Cast.and i as a Lover of Hellraiser loved it (keep in mind Gary himself plays an aging Pinhead in the storyline)

To access the Easter Egg simply go to "special Features , then highlight play movie and press DOWN and then Press Right , then the Lament Configuration will turn Red and the movie will Start..

Hey presto (ooh yeh this only works on the Region 1 Copy of this movie)

Hell ain't as scary as it used to be.

Before anything else, let it be said that hellraiser Deader is actually a very good film. the story is very unusual, the characters are all played very well,(with the exception of the newspaper boss who is an annoying twit) and some of the scenes have a fantastic spookiness to them. The main problem with this is that the whole Hellraiser connection seems to have been tacked on at the end as an afterthought to make the film more appealing. Pinhead is virtually non-existent in the film, and his screen time is max 15 minutes. Even at that, he doesnt do anything too exciting. The lament configuration box is thrown in here and there, but is not really nessecary to the films main story. It would be quite easy to remove the whole hellraiser connection and still have a pretty good horror film, but its unfortunate that people seem to now be simply using Hellraiser as a way to promote their random story horror films. For the film itself, it deserves 4 stars, but I've rated it 3 as it has precious little to do with the Hellraiser franchise. Still definitely worth a watch, but if you;re looking for the Pinhead presence that was found in the likes of Hellraiser III, you wont find it here.

Hellraiser rocks!!!!!

I am noticing a trend developing in the hellraiser franchise, 1,2,3 and 4 were excellent 5 was awful and now 6,7 and 8 look fantastic. this review is biased because i love hellraiser but the newer ones have been much better because pin head only has a small role in the and that is what hellraiser is all about, the anticipation on the MAN. however this film is clearly been made cheaply and yes doug bradley is beginning to look old ( even under the make up) however this film and hellseeker and hellworld are a return to form, keep up the good work
