Warning
Please note that this film contains scenes of an extremely explicit sexual nature.
Not erotic, not interesting, not clever...
Review date: 2008-09-11 Rating: 2 out of 10
This is a very poor effort. It features explicit sex scenes, cut with scenes from music concerts (mostly at the Brixton Academy in London), and the use of Antarctica as a metaphor for - something... Perhaps the meaningless of the life of these two characters. It's really a poor movie because though the sex is explicit, it's not erotic. The musical choice is quite good, but it is tiresome to just break and watch another song for a few minutes. There is no character development and very little dialogue. It's just dire.

YawnworthyReview date: 2008-08-19 Rating: 2 out of 10This film is about a couple of people who go to concerts and have sex; it manages to be neither erotic nor interesting. Nothing much happens - the sex scenes kind of keep it going but only just. For erotica look elsewhere, for storyline, acting look elsewhere as wellOne damn awful film!, Review date: 2008-08-03 Rating: 2 out of 10Please, dont anyone tell me this is some erotic Romeo and Juliet, dont anyone complain about this film being 'too explicit' this film is bad because.....well it is just plain awful.
Two ugly students, one an American with an accent so anoying that it makes you want to punch her the second an Englishman so boring you wish he would fall down one of those glaciers he is exploring meet up, go to so called 'indie' shows down the Brixton academy, have sex a few times, make a pathetic attempt to take drugs, argue a bit, then brake up. Just about sums up the film.
If this is what anyone realy considers a good plot consider putting a gun to your head and putting yourself out of your misery. So what there are '9 songs' in the film and that is some kind of clever link to the title, so what? If anyone thinks two half starved students engaging in sex is erotic well.....er each to their own I guess.
In this world the director used amature actors, I hear in Road to Guantanimo he did the same. I can only asume that in 9 songs he used the same format because these two planks cant possibly be professional actors. I even watched the extra footage which included an interview with the main actress who is even more anoying in real life than she is when she is making her poor attempt at acting.
Awful film, avoid at all costs. I shudder at the thought of this film as I write this review. Yawn...Review date: 2008-06-24 Rating: 2 out of 10I thought this movie would be really good considering that the music in it was pretty decent but it didn't live up to expectations. The good music didn't really change the fact that this movie is boring. Sure there is sex but who cares? It's not anything you can't see in other movies and I think that the stars really don't have any chemistry. It's just a bland movie that is pretentious and is really a case of much ado about nothing.About as erotic as being hit in the face with a rotten fish...Review date: 2008-05-06 Rating: 2 out of 10...with apologies to the fisherman somewhere who does actually find that erotic!
This really is a dreadful film. I borrowed it from a friend - I thank my lucky stars that I didn't buy it. The film basically consists of hardcore sex and excerpts of various average/boring/mainstream bands at the Brixton Academy. Again and again. Seemingly ad infinitum. Well that was a boring bit of sex. Oh great, it's another boring band. Oh look, more boring sex! You get the picture.
This really does feel like the type of film a spotty adolescent wannabe filmmaker would make for the sole purpose of seeing a woman naked. If you want hardcore sex, buy some proper porn. If you want boring music, buy a newspaper when it has one of those teeth-pulling "Sunday music" CDs free with it. Don't go near this - the only thing this DVD is good for is a drinks coaster.
