slow start, then good, then axed :(

I do tend to like projects Eliza Dushku is involved in, but this is a decidedly lukewarm offering. The impression given is that the scriptwriters had no real narrative arc to begin with, then decided to introduce one - then had to wrap things up sharpish as the show got axed. Overall; enjoyable but disappointing.

tru calling- BRING IT BACK !!!!!!!Review date: 2010-07-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Yes, another great show cancelled to soon! cancelled shows are
becoming a regular thing, and as usual it affects great shows like this one.
I could'nt believe that they did'nt even finish the second season.WowReview date: 2010-05-15 Rating: 8 out of 10I seriously love this show. I've watched the whole series three times - once really recently, though I bought the complete series years ago. I never tire of it. It would have been really great to see what happened in the end - there were so many stones left unturned, like the fact that Tru didn't ever find out that her dad had her mum killed, or that her dad was working alongside Jack and helping him kill people. It would have been really entertaining to have those loose ends tied but otherwise, absolutely brilliantCalling all Dushku fansReview date: 2010-03-20 Rating: 10 out of 10I first found 'Tru Calling' one weekend when I was flicking through cable looking for something to watch.
Lets face it evenings are pretty pathetic when it comes to finding something good to watch so I was not holding up much hope.
But luckily I found the first episode of Tru Calling on Sky one and I was hooked! I absolutely loved the pilot episode so much so I watched it again with my partner and he too was hooked.
Dukshu is fantastic in this show and I think she had a fantastic ability to pull of the part of Tru. I had only really seen her in smaller parts before watching this and in most cases she played the tough kick arse girl, but in these she played a part I could relate to.
Zach Galifianakis was also unknown to me at this time but I have later seen him in the film Hangover. His character Davies is the part of guy most people run away from but his character is very loyal to Tru and their relationship is a fantastic part of the show.
A.J Cook was also unknown to me but I have later seen her in a number of things including Criminal Minds, in this series she plays Lindsay the best friend of Tru and on off girlfriend to Tru's brother Harrison (Reaves). Cook worked well with the character but unfortunately for her the character did not have much depth.
The story-line is fantastic and personally I have not seen anything similar on the tv.
Each episode has a different story which revolves around the bodies brought into the morgue were Tru works. But don't think that this gets boring, Tru deals with serial killers, suicides, abuse cases and so on.
The episodes are original and I never once got the feeling that the episodes repeated themselves with the main story-line.
There is also and underlying story that runs throughout the whole series concerning Tru's dead mother, her absent father and several people who come and go throughout the series.
Each persons presence may not mean much at the time they first appear, but it comes apparent that they will leave a big impact on what the future holds for Tru, but I wont spoil this for you by giving too much away.
The story-line gets even more addictive when the mysterious Jack Harper appears (Priestly) in Tru's life, midway through the series.
Tru must also deal with the everyday stress of having a corporate high flying sister Meredith (Collins) who is hiding the fact she is still a drug user, a high maintenance brother Harrison who Tru always must get out of some sort of scrape when a scam has gone wrong and whilst trying to have some sort of attempt at a love-life with Luc Johnston (Bomer).
A fantastic story-line, with great characters and cleverly selected actors that really make the show enjoyable.
Series 1 contained 20 episodes but unfortunately for fans of Tru Calling series 2 was canceled after just 6 episodes due to funding.
I would definitely recommend this show, I have watched it several times and I will continue to do so. 10/10.Cancelled too soonReview date: 2010-03-02 Rating: 10 out of 10This was a great show and I can't believe Fox canceled it so soon. Still worth watching but it ends with too many questions left unanswered and just as it was getting really interesting.
