For budding starlet Marilyn
Review date: 2006-12-30 Rating: 6 out of 10
The first starring role for Marilyn Monroe came from Columbia in this B movie program filler. The film isn't long enough to bore anyone (61 minutes!).
This is a classic backstage musical plot with Marilyn becoming the new burlesque queen when the star of the show walks away. And as she falls in love with a wealthy young admirer, her mother (Adele Jergens) tries to warn her and over-protect her. Will she make it? Will love blossom? Will she be accepted in her husband's milieu??? What a suspense.
The film is really worth buying for young aspiring actress Monroe singing and dancing through a couple of numbers (including "Everybody needs a da-da-daddy"). Even then, she showed screen presence and that magnetism that shall make her a true star a few years later. The rest is fairly forgettable (although I didn't know Adele Jergens could dance like that).

Young Marilyn Monroe struts her stuff and delivers the goods!Review date: 2006-05-06 Rating: 10 out of 10.
MARILYN MONROE was a young starlet when she appeared in this early film from 1948. She shows here her singing talent for the first time ever. She steals every scene as she struts her stuff and makes love to the camera as only Marilyn can.
Any Marilyn Monroe fan MUST add this film to their collection!
