At Owlpen Manor in Gloucestershire the team are aided by the owner's dog in their investigation of the Attic Room. As Karl leaves the room a book is thrown at him by unseen hands. A very impressive light anomaly is recorded and more books are thrown from nearby shelves. But this episode will be remembered for the shouting match between Yvette and Derek after he is possessed during a seance.
Bangs and bumps are a staple of the Most Haunted series. At Coxteth Hall in Liverpool these are taken to another level. At Craig Y Nos in Wales unexplained sighs and breathes are recorded by the team. At the world famous Jamaica Inn in Cornwall Yvette is sure that she can see part of a woman's face looking at her from within the glass of a mirror. Guest psychic Ian Lawman is on hand to guide the spirit of this woman into the light.
The Manor House in County Durham is the definite highlight of this set. When Derek is possessed by the spirit of an evil man he grabs a lamp and throws it at the crew. Karl, Stuart and Rick hold a vigil in a bedroom where poltergeist is rife. Rick provokes the spirit into action and what happens next gives the three men the fright of their lives.
Derek Acorah continues to try to explain what he is seeing what no one else can and what "Sam" his spirit guide tells him. Yvette Fielding and paranormal investigator Phil Whyman accompany Derek throughout the investigations and listen to him with expressions of bewilderment. Derek's understanding of the spirit world means that he is able to react sensibly to any noise in the dark. It must be said that most crew members are not and while Yvette's hysteria may be amusing to some viewers to those who take the investigations seriously it can be annoying.
Most Haunted 4.1 is definitely up there with 5.2 as one of the most dramatic and compelling releases fron the entire series.
