A few minutes into this film Karl Howman tells us that `a flash car makes birds think you're a flash feller' these days Karl is synonymous with being flash from his advertisements for the kitchen cleaner of the same name. Other names that are now known from this film are Nick Berry of `Eastenders' and `Heartbeat' fame; Gary Olsen who went on to have is own series `Prospects' and Caroline Quentin who we all now know from `Men Behaving Badly'.

I went to the cinema to watch this twenty five years ago to see Danny Peacock who was then appearing in `The Comic Strip' films but was possibly better known for his in-line dancing and florescent socks which coloured the Kwik-Fit adverts at the time, he was my hero. His appearance as the fool who failed to pull was nearer to my own party going salad days then I would care remember, but the one significant memory of party going was that I generally could remember very little, old friends advise me it is for the best.

The other star of the film was the brilliant New Wave soundtrack from the theme by Elvis Costello through specifically recorded songs by Bad Manners, Sting and Altered Images and songs by The Clash, Madness and Squeeze. The down side to this is that this film is very New Years Eve 1983 and time hasn't been kind to 1983.

Haven't seen this since I was 21, still as funny as it was then. Have given it as a present to my 19 year old (brought up on Madness and TwoTone) now he's ordered copies for his friends. Obviously timeless!!

goandbuyit

Oh my god how I loved this film, I have watched my very hard to find vhs (original) time and time again, every time it makes me laugh as hard as before. Oh god and look at the stars now, Caroline Quentin (keep wondering Shirl) Nick Berry, that guy out of casualty, oh and my oh my how much of a crush did I have on JOHNNY REEVES mmmmm and to think now he advertises floor cleaner lol (those who've seen it will know what I mean). Ah halicion days a must see for any true lover of brit comedy, this film is a much funnier offering than some of the US smutty counterparts and should recieve the honours it deserves a much loved classic. I've gotta go coz 'Johnny Reeves is gonna give me some tips, tips on how to pull the birds' p.s. can anyone smell horses lol, please buy this film you won't regret it.
