A Really Good Teen Comedy!
Review date: 2008-10-14 Rating: 8 out of 10
Mary is a typical christian teenager, that is until she falls pregnant & the father of the baby is sent off to a camp.
Mary is left on her own, decieding that she doesn't believe in God anymore. Her friends abandon her but she befriends wild child Cassandra & wheel chair-bound Rowland.
The comedy in this film is predominantly black comedy, at times the movie is really funny. It puts across an interesting portrayal of the life of a teenage Christian & the dilemas faced by adolescents in general (wanting to fit in, having the right hairstyle).
Saved is a great teen comedy, its not about sex or drugs or hot jocks its about the struggles of adolescents (& of course that includes teen pregnancy.)
Although with all teen comedies there are the inevitable stereotypes; the popular mean girl, the hot guy that likees her back & the dumb one of the group. The movie also highlights the narrow-mindedness of Christian society in the dealings with homosexuals & teen pregnancy, as a non-christian I was more than happy to see this portrayed on screen!
Anyways, agood film, not groundbreaking but if your looking for a slightly different teen comedy this is one of the best one on offer.

Really goodReview date: 2008-10-09 Rating: 10 out of 10I thought that this was one of the best films I ve seen in the High school movie genre in ages - the bit were the jewish girl has everyone thinking she is speaking in tounges at the school assembly when she is actually being really crude is hilarous and the bit were Hilary throws a Bible at Mary is laugh out loud. not badReview date: 2008-07-28 Rating: 6 out of 10could have been better, could have been worse. it doesn't stand out for me but it has some witty lines, good performances from the jena malone and mandy moore especially and shows how christian youth deal with todays society and its obstacles of christian identity not greatReview date: 2006-08-14 Rating: 4 out of 10When i read the description of Saved, I thought it would be a cool, smart, funny teenage flick that wasn't too heavy. But about a third of the way through I started to get bored. I wasn't sure what this film was actually about- the gay guy? the girl who got pregnant? The popular girl? The rebellious Jewish girl trying to get herself expelled? About half way through the movie started to lose me and I found myself thinking of watching something else. I think what this movie lacks is identifying with the characters. Its kind of impersonal and the plot is quite half-hearted, making you wonder when its all going to end. I recommend something with more of a plot and charismatic characters. Standard teen comedy, despite reviews to the contraryReview date: 2006-02-03 Rating: 4 out of 10How disappointing. Another 'edgy' teen comedy that builds up to a show down at the prom. Everyone ends up loving the main girl, the class bitch is shown up for what she really is, and her friends turn against her, and everyone learns a valuable lesson. The one saving grace is that the gay character actually ends up with a boyfriend, rather than just flapping about flamboyantly like similar characters in similar films like Mean Girls.
