A great season
Review date: 2007-09-13 Rating: 8 out of 10

I really enjoy this show and this was a great season of it. It contained enough of twists and turns and surprises to keep me happy and satisfied with it and I think most people will enjoy it too, if you like this sort of thing.
I will review each episode on the dvd:

Dead On Time=This episode contains the apparent suicide of an elderly Don, who had recently become physically disabled, but when it became established that the man would not have been able to lift up the gun and pull the trigger, because of his dissability, Morse is called in to investigate the case, but there is a surprise in store for Morse because the dead mans wife turns out to be Morses ex fiance. This episode would be one of my favouites because, although it isn't too complicated, I think it has a great, emotional plot and interesting characters. I didn't guess who did it, which is good 9/10.

Happy Families=Sir John Balcombe, head of a large british company, is found murdered in his castle one night and Morse is called in to investigate the death. However, what seems like a straightforward case, is soon turned into a more complicated one, when more murders start to occur within that family. This is another brilliant episode and it is also one of my favourites. I think the family it revolves around, are funny posh snobs, and it is amusing to watch the two sons of the family bickering all the time, and, this episode has a very sad ending, and I definitely wasn't expecting the murderer to be, who it was 9/10.

The Death Of The Self=A woman is found crucified against a tree in Italy and the Italian police think it was an accident, but Morse thinks differently and decides to try to prove it. In my opinion the Italian setting is a good choice of a setting for the story, because I think this one hasn't got much else to offer, than a really nice setting. I can see how it appeals to some people, though, but it is not my cup of tea, because, it is slow paced and the whodunnit aspect isn't too important, but there are some enjoyable parts 5/10.

Absolute Conviction= This episode is set in Farnley prison and there is an experiment going on, where the prisoners have a lot of freedom, but unfortunatly a murder occurs in the middle of this and intterupts the whole investigation. The murder victim is one of three crooked entrepreneurs, and Morse is called in to investigate, and then more murders occur. This is an enjoyable episode with a surprising conclusion, I found it enjoyable and satisfying, but not one of the best 7/10.

Cherabum And Seraphim=Morses step-niece takes a drug overdose and kills herself, and more drug related tragedies start to happen to teenagers and Morse starts to look for the dealers and trys to find reasons for the suicide in his step-nieces past. This is an upsetting episode but it is higly enjoyable and an unusually different type of episode. I think it is great 8/10.

If you like detective shows and you want to be baffled, buy this now, you won't be dissapointed.
