Great soul searching....

I had not seen these episodes I just started watching mid way through the terrific third series (which I cannot wait to come out)

However this little show is a real gem - top notch cast, some weird but enteraining story lines and great character interaction.

I could not imagine the lead without either Justine or Craig as his sidekicks they really make the show what it is. So I'm kind of glad never to have seen series one for that reason alone!

The scottish mannerisms, the fantastic Glasgow backdrop and some very familiar landmarks over and above along with storylines that get you hooked. Made it well worth the buy.

However its the cast who really deserve the credit, its the first home grown product that is really universal and deserves all its merits. Cannot wait for series three to come out on DVD and it was very interesting seeing these characters interact together for the first time.

They come along way in this series and the next goes even further in broadening the expanse both of character and show.

Sea of Souls is superb and great viewing in every way Iain Robertson, Dawn Steele and Bill Paterson have given us a show above and beyond the call of duty!

Good followup.

I liked this season as much as the first one, though I agree with that reviewer (1st o 2nd season, I don't remember) stating that two hours per episode are two many - things may have been resolved in one or so. I also think that replacing the characters of Andrew Gemmill and Megan Sharma with those of Craig Stevenson and Justine McManus has been badly made: they're completely equivalent in function and purpose. Given the obvious differences between Archie Panjabi and Dawn Steele on one side and Peter McDonald and Iain Robertson, the replacement character should have been different from the original ones. Other than that, I found that it balances quite well the mix of faith and skepticism needed in this kind of movies - there is no factual proof for paranormal experiences, but people have a deep need for reassurance that said experiences fulfill.

Sea of Tosh!!

If you're dumb enough to buy into the premise that there is any kind of paranormal research department like the one portrayed in "Sea of Souls" anywhere in the world then this might be passable entertainment but it really does beggar belief. If you really want this kind of thing, the Americans do it a million times better. You know there's life after death when you see this DVD set in huge piles, heavily discounted, in remainder stores!

Series 3 is the best, series 2 was very good

I didn't catch the first series, but watched the 2nd on tv, and it was brilliant. Each story was told over two episodes, and each one dealing with a different supernatural occurence. Each ending with what had just happend being dismissed or unprovable due to lack of evidence. The casting is spot on with the three characters, and in series 3, Ian and Dawn's characters are given much more screen time and depth, exploring a hidden bond for one another.

Buy this one, and def buy series 3 (when its released on dvd), as its 5 stars in my opinion. The format has changed to one story per epsisode which i feel is better, and they are getting more technical with effects and such like, a show at its peak right now. I'm chuffed 'cause i like supernatural stuff, and even more chuffed (and proud) that its Scottish.

Sea of Excellence!

If you are into good dramas, and enjoy spooky thrillers then this is an awesome buy! Even though it is a supernatural drama, it can appeal to both sides of the supernatural argument.
Sea of Souls Season 2 is totally different from season 1. Season 2, I find, has brill storylines which keep you on the edge of your seat all the time....as all the episodes were two-parters over the weekends, I could hardly wait for the next day to come!
The stories are planned really well, and my favourite story had to be the first one, where "the team" visit a house that seems to have some sort of "poltergeist" in it.
Whether you are a sceptic or not, this is an awesome buy and I would recommend it for anyone really. It isn't particularly scary, but does have psychological horror and some nasty-ish scenes, so I can see why it is rated a "15". So if you like a good supernatural story......go buy this DVD now!! Lol.
