This DVD took my breath away.Subtle and beautifully produced. Clearly in the Later with Jools format. The sets with Sonny Landretti were awesome, great slide guitar as were the sets with Donal Lunny and friends. There was surprise after surpise as each of the guests contibuted to a wonderful concert. Highly recommended.Inspiring.

Not what you might expect.

If you are expecting a large scale concert in a venue such as the Albert Hall then you will be dissapointed. This is a small scale studio concert first transmitted in 1996 on the BBC for the 'Later with Jools...' series of specials. Hence the songs featured are mostly from his first solo album 'Golden Heart' released earlier that year. Visually it's in 4:3 format and the stereo sound balance is rather dull. It's an intimate rather than vivacious set featuring some excellent musicians, including Jools Holland, that obviously enjoy playing together.

MArk Knopfler is undoubtebly the best guitarist in the World. He has consistently produced brilliant music for 25 years and this review by a 17 year old is testament to how highly I rate this man.
The video itself is probably the least good MK video and takes some getting used to. On the Night and Alchemy are far supereior but as always there is still much to admire.
The video is essentially aa advertisement for the Golden Heart album and he plays about 10 songs from it. Interwined in them are DS classics.
Highlights of the show? The jamming sessions with sonny Landreth most notably Gravy train and je suis desole. Sultans of swing is great but the best bit is Rudiger. Magnificent guitaring and drumming.
Jools Holland and a classical orchestra are also present, as is his wife!
PLease buy this. You will not like it instantly but this is MK at his best, as usual.
